My first time at WOLFIES SOUL CLUB a really nice venue, the layout of the room reminded me of Stubshaw with the raised seating area at the back of the room.

Nice to see some of the Ashton Faithful, making the trip down William Mailey Mike Roche Debbie McCracken and Carl Dazzlin DuzDallas. Thanks to Natalie Nicholls for the invite down and Ken Onions for the lift back to the hotel.

If you haven't yet tried this venue, you're missing a trick, great sound system and cheap bar, win, win.

Here's my contributions to the night 10pm-11pm and thanks for the great feedback, it really is appreciated!!

Little Johnny Hamilton "oh how I love you"

Ivy Jo "I can feel the pain"

The Experts "my love is real"

Buddy Connor "when you're alone"

James Wayne "I found someone"

Rose Brooks "I'm moanin'"

The Vontells "ta hula hoop"

Archie Bell "A 1000 wonders"

The Dynamics "you make me feel good"

Patti Drew "stop and listen"

The Dramatics "your love was strange"

J J Barnes "baby please come back home"

The Jackson Brothers "I gotta hear it from you"

Barbara Mason "you better stop it"

Melvin Davis "I must love you"

Billy Hambric "I found true love"

Billy Ecsktine "I wonder why"

Little Charles + The Sidewinders "talkin' bout you babe"

Elbie Parker "please keep away"

Syl Johnson "do you know what love is"

Jesse Johnson "left out"

The Tempests "someday"

David Coleman "drown my heart"

The Invitations "watch out little girl"

C L Blast "what can I do"

Our first time at Wolfie’s Soul Club; friendly, intimate and tailor made for this type of event.  Complete with a polished wooden dance floor, a good sound system and can even boast of a raised seating area.

Our host Natalie Nicholls kicked things off with a Stafford classic, Chris Morgan ‘Who Am I’. Followed by some dance floor favourites: Sam Dees, Garnett Mimms and the Ivories.  The seductive and lyrical sound of Ruby Sherry ‘Feminine Ingenuity’. And the euphonious vocals and snare back beat that is Sugar and The Spice ‘Have faith in Me’.

There was a one-minute silence for the legendary DJ of our scene and recently departed Ted Massey. RIP. Natalie also dedicated to his memory, the beautiful and melancholic sound of the Seashells ‘Quiet Home’.

John Pugh played a terrific and varied set, opening with the sweet vocals of the Ellusions. Followed by the stark and sombre horns of Monique ‘If You Love Me’. Then some 70’s magic with The Vanguards, Innersection and Papa Bear & His Cubs.

Mick Howard may be playing away, but was on top form. His first track set the tone, the dance classic by Little Johnny Hamilton, wild horses wouldn’t keep me from the dance floor!  Followed by Buddy Connor: where soulful vocals meet jazz chords. A personal favourite: Patti Drew ‘Stop Look and Listen’, complete with a virtuoso Alto Sax break mid song. And not forgetting Barbara Mason’s powerful evocation of a wronged woman, ‘You Better Stop’.

Last up was Jason Arnold, If I remember correctly, he started proceedings with a gospel track, The Holy Disciples ‘What’s the Matter with You’. Followed by the pulsating on the fours beat of the Cashmere’s ‘Showstoppers’.  Then the track that shares the same label, production and backing  with the Magnetics ‘Count My Days’, it’s The Soulful Twins’ Can’t Let You Go’.  Jason's set also included the sombre and intricate sound of Glen Miller ‘Where is Love’ and the powerful beat ballad,  Freddie Scott ‘Mr Heartache’.  Also a few excellent tracks that were quite new to me.

Thanks Natalie, the DJ's and all at Wolfie’s for a great night.

Good Morning to you all 😊🎶

Outstanding night last night at Wolfies, under the sad news of Ted, we made sure we paid our respects with a minutes silence and our flowery shirts 💔 and each DJ playing their tribute to Ted 🎶

So the guests each brought their individual style to Wolfies ....

Our first guest Mr John Purist , we love John, the legend he is and a man who I personally look up to and respect, bringing his cover ups, acetes and his favourite adored records, like I say John is a part of the glue that holds Wolfies together and we always appreciate his sets and support at Wolfies ♥️

Our second guest Ashton Ukrainians very own Mick Howard , making his first debut at Wolfies and won't be the last .... Bringing the troops down with him, he gave us an almighty set of great classics, rarity and quality as always ... And he fitted in well with us west midlands lot 😁 I'm sure his playlist will go up .. just wonderful 🎶🎵

Our third and final guest of the night ... The man who is full of passion and enthusiasm that is Jason Arnold .... With his Stafford selections, sprinkled with his own style and some classics all rolled into a one hour set, and making us laugh .. just a fantastic set ♥️

Just outstanding, quality music from all the djs from start to finish ❤️🎵🎶

Celebrating Mick's birthday in style 🥳🎶🎵

Thankyou to everyone who came, danced, chatted and supported, we really do appreciate it and love to you all ❤️

We are back Friday 16th May ... Like I said last night this is our 10th year at Wolfies, it's a HUGE achievement but we can't do it without you all ... ❤️❤️

Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend and see you all again very soon ❤️
