Posted July 15, 200915 yr it makes me f&cking mad when I pay someone 2 quid or 2.50 for postage and they send the record second class, in a mailer with no cardboard, or when I send someone 6 quid for special delivery and they send it recorded for 1.60. Sorry just had to get that out of my system.
July 15, 200915 yr I'm with you on that. Happened to me quite a few times that I pay for insurance and the record is sent either just signed for or even worse by regular post. And I get negative rating on Ebay when I charge the wrong postage by mistake, spot the error and refund the difference even before the buyer notices my mistake.

Sorry just had to get that out of my system. I agree Pete. On ebay, i just charge £2 1st class recorded. It's about £1.65 for the actual royal mail postage cost, record mailer and cardboard insert probably comes to 30 - 35 pence. How people can charge in excess of that is a joke really, very frustrating - Especially with Special Delivery.....The whole idea behind doing that is it insures you for up to £500, not max £37 from recorded delivery.
July 15, 200915 yr There's too many sellers making money out of postage costs. Most of them overcharge posting price to recover some (little) part of their PayPal/ebay taxes, I believe.
July 16, 200915 yr Pisses me off too, when people mark my feedback down for postage & packing, I believe I pack the records well, using 7" mailers, usually 4 pieces of card to strengthen (depending on the thickness of it), and taping all the seams of the mailer. My disadvantage is I post from my home in France, it costs me 4 at the post office to post 1 or 2 records (less than 250g priority postage), I charge £3-60 and with the exchange rate as it is now that's £3-44, so making a massive 16p, deducting the price of the mailer, time packing them, and the 20km round trip to get to the post office, I'm out of pocket. But the F**kers still mark me down, the stupidity of some people !!!!!
July 16, 200915 yr Author I sent a bloke a record last week, charged 1.70 postage, that's 1.55 for recorded and 15p for the mailer and 3 bits of card, so it's a very solid package, anyway I sent it the same day as he paid, 1st class. He left me feedback saying "ok service". So I'm trying to think what I could have done to make it better than ok apart from deliver it by hand and give him a BJ. I left him feedback saying "ok buyer"

July 17, 200915 yr Add me to a list of folk spending more on postage when I sell discs, than I actually charge customers. Why... ...I send all discs out via an International courier service that has never let me down and seems to be able to get a parcel from Japan to UK doorsteps in as little as 48 hours, with an average of under 5 days for sure. Never had any parcels go missing or get damaged and you can track them online. Therefore I don't mind spending the extra...usually costs me £7+ (for a one disc parcel) and I charge £5 per parcel. Charging excessive postal rates just ain't cricket.
