Hi all

Need some help on this one.

I got a list off Shifty the other day.

There is Milton Wright - The Gallop - Karen white demo Mint -

Now I know the flip is "Like a rolling stone" which is a tune I like and want so I bought it.

I get it through whack it on the deck and its the instrumental.

Bollocks !

There is no mention in the guide of it being either a vocal or instrumental so I need the following help please

1. Is the vocal issued or unissued ?

2. If so what label is it on ? Vocal on the stock copy maybe ?

3. Anyone have a copy for sale ?

4. Anyone want to buy this white demo I have of the Gallop ??? Its a classic inst but not really my taste.

Same price as I paid for it off Shifty - £60 (plus postage)

Not sure of the connection (long time ago), but I'm reasonably sure that John was the man who got the Satiron disc out with the vocal version of "I Belong To You" on the back of the instr being so massive at Wigan.

I've never owned a Satiron copy so is the flip the vocal to "Like A Rolling Stone?" If so I never realised both vocals were on the same disc. You live and learn eh?

The Satiron copies came out & sold just prior to U.K. Grapevine release if I remember correctly.

Is it the same song or a version of Bob Dylan's song ?

Yes, Originally on Carla as an Instrumental, then just prior to Issue in the UK on Grapevine in the 70's,

the Satiron Vocal copies (Official Release as far as I'm Aware) from the same source as the Grapevine.

I've always thought a relatively small number of Satiron copies to gain Interest/Play.

Number of 250 pressed is quoted in the other thread. Considering how many people were into Northern Soul back in the 70s this is very small number, I guess most copies just disappeared over the years.

the gallop came out late 1969. it may even be 1970. the vocal came out in 1977 just prior to the uk grapevine issue. its not a boot. im sure john and richard s who worked for rca at the time released the grapevine 45`s with permission
