Through the years, northern soul has always had a spirtual "home", like the wheel, torch, mecca et al. Do you guys think the scene has one now, if so, where is it? If we dont have one, do we miss it?

Theres no shortage of venues, but are there so many that attendances get watered down?

The spiritual home of Northern Soul is of course Wigan, even though we had different all-nighters... the heart of soul stays with us, even today. How could my mother and friends, still mention it, after all that time? if it didnt make such an impression? Clouds lives on- keep the faith.

Well as a technical answer, since the 'Northern' tag got added and adopted then it has to be up North.

That was then, and this is now, so today it probably a bigger debate than ever with 'Northern Soul' events all over the world.

I'm just glad that we've still got it here in the UK, and also its growing in the USA where it really all come from.

Hi Kev, that is true. But "we" know the place. Only one place. "She said goodbye"- yes, drunk again!

I do kinda miss having a venue which is the 'place to be', where all the wheeler, dealers, dancers & other reprobates congregate together, a venue that is of the time.

For me it's not about venues it's about the music so I'd respectfully suggest - Detroit

I agree Russ, there are several brilliant niters, but is no one place these days that everyone attends regularly and you can guarantee seeing everyone there. I miss that too (although i'm not sure i'd be able to attend anywhere on a regular basis either )
