Guest adlibsoul
Might seem a bit of a strange thread this as the tickets went on sale and were all reserved (subject to payment) within 24 hours. However we do like to keep all those interested (and those on this site who have tickets reserved)up to date with what's happening on the night. We have six resident djs who always double-deck.Allan Swires with John Paul Leasing.Martin Greene with Trevor Quincey.Christian Scott with Neill Firth. We also have a spot called "up for the craic " of it where regular supporters of Ad-Lib can play their "take"on the early scene that gave birth to the original allnighter clubs.Because of the licensing of the authentic 1823 cellar-bar venue we start early.Doors open at 6.30pm,first djs on at 7.00pm and we usually are allowed to play on until 12.15 am.Most interested parties put theirselves onto our email list( like a free membership) which gives priority notice of tickets and whats happening regarding the nights. You can contact us at adlibsoul@yahoo.co.uk or join us on our Ad-Lib Facebook group page.We are a city centre venue but on a quite road close to all bars/restaurents etc. (2 mins walk). The venue has a council owned carpark adjoining it.The venue is perfect for the playing of early r&b/early soul/Jamaican R&B,Doo-Wop,Ska off original vinyl with an atmosphere generated that is second -to-none.Suited and booted, smart casual.Areally top night.More later Link to comment
Guest adlibsoul
As promised some background information about Glen from Hull who is djing his " take" on the early scene for us.Regular Ad-Lib supporters will know Glen and the Hull Massive as sharpe-suited mods always up for a good time.Glen runs a bi-monthly night in Hull called Tune Up.He's dj'd at scooter rallies and recently was support dj for .Snake Davis the jazz saxophonist at Howden Live. His influences amongst others are listed as Big Mama Thornton,Tiny Topsy,Freddie King and the King,Federal and Peacock record labels. His music preferences were galvanised after his first visit to Manchesters Hideaway Club 8 years ago.In his words "it just blew me away"!!.Since then he has been collecting R&B,Doo-Wop and Early Soul.Another quality turn for our "up for the craic spot" to follow Debbie Dee,Steve Longworth,Steven Yates and Chris Lymon,Mick Casey,Harry "H" Harrison.
