Where do we start?

Even if the Hi catalogue had nothing but Al Green it would be a treasure trove.

some of my picks:

masqueraders - now that I've found you

antiques - satisfactorize your mind (heard this was a white group from nola, can anyone confirm / deny?)

imported moods (both sides killer, anyone have any info on this group?)

syl johnson - any way the wind blows

teacher's edition - i wanna be loved (obscure chicago one)

jean plum - here i go again

James Fry - Still Around - Hi

Willie Walker - Love Makes The World Go Around - Hi

Africano - Satisfactorize Your Mind - Hi

Don Bryant - I'll Go Crazy - Hi

Quick 4 from me Across the board music from such a key iconic soul label!

As you say Rich, an iconic label indeed. The Hi Rhythm Section, a list of fabulous artists such as O.V.Wright, Otis Clay, Ann Peebles, Don Bryant, Al Green, Quiet Elegance, Jean Plum, Syl Johnson, George Jackson etc etc etc. all under the wing of the genius who was Willie Mitchell.

A few from me then -----

T-99 - Sweetness Ain't Sweet No More - Hi

David Duke - Is It Over - Hi

Staying true to my signature I better include a couple from these guys.

Otis Clay - It Was Jealousy - Hi

O V Wright - Precious Precious - Hi

Sean Hampsey, where are ya ?

Another I bought when new.

Sean

And here's the flip of the Jean Plum 'Look At The Boy'...

Does it get any better than this?

Sean

PS: Think the above shows there was a helluva lot more to Willie Mitchell than the Champion, Dave!

Back in 75/76 I wrote to Hi Records and got back a nice package back together with this letter from Ginger Russell. Really nice of them and who would of thought 35 years later and I'm still listening to them yes.gif. Mike

Soul brilliance from Overton Vertis Wright

He just caves me in, fabulous soul music of the highest order.

O.V. Wright - The Bottom Line

Medley - God Blessed Our Love, When A Man Loves A Woman, That's How Strong My Love Is (12 minutes of sheer soul magic)

That's great Mike. Just to get a simple reply would have been nice.

I bet you were well chuffed when that lot came back. I know I was when I got a reply (and a badge) after writing to the Ian Allan Trainspotters Club

Even beats having the T shirt
