Can anyone shed any light on this one please? Seems like quite a rare Detroit collector's piece that isn't easy to pick up.

Soul Generation - Soul Motivation Part 1/Soul Motivation Part 2 (Tru-Ba-Dor 724)

I first heard about it back in the '80s in Rod Dearlove's phenomenal A Collector's Guide To Detroit.

Took me a while to find a copy.

Can anyone tell me anything about the artist, label, any connected labels - and was this definitely a single release label?

it doesn't turn up much but it never goes for much either. that is the only record i've seen on that label but i'm not an expert on detroit labels so i guess there could be another one.

Sounds like it's from the later part of the 60s, or even perhaps even after the turn of the decade.

I haven't spotted a connection with any other labels (e.g. using the same address).

The release year is 1968 (late, I think). I was pressed up prior and very close to the Ravins on Demo Ristic.

Been playing part 2 out lately to nice effect.

I've never seen another record on Tru-Ba-Dor. But there were other record companies located at that Wyoming Ave. address (but they were all operating in earlier years, rather than concurrently). I don't recognise that music publishing company-so can't track it to an owner (though I can't make out the exact letters).

I don't get any clues from producers Shelton and Porter, or Hill or Craig as writer. Some websites say that this was the only record issued on the label, and it was released in 1969. But, the Archer Pressing Plant code shows that it's press run occurred in mid 1968.
