And to you John. Just joshing about Mrs M but it it's a completely different song to the Gwen McRae tune and in honesty it sounds a bit "capenters-esque" to me.

I wonder what specific genre you would call this type of music (not soul) and what similar artists are in that genre? I hate janis joplin but maybe it would have a similar audience?

yeah, probably. I think it sounds like something very specific but I can't think of it and I don't know much about classic rock anyways.

very middle of the road..sounds a bit like bette midler to me..the vocalist is well known put i just cant put my finger on it...

I actually was thinking bette midler but when the gospelly chorus came in i think it sounded earlier.

You know bette midler wrote some soul songs? Well, at least one song if not more, she wrote a moments song from like '78, a decent cut too.
