For a project I'm doing that involves songs with names in the titles (Bobby Is My Baby, Carlena, etc., etc., etc.), I'm stumped on X and Y name records. Can anyone think of a soul, R&B, blues, funk, or gospel record that has a male or female name in the title or lyrics that starts with an X (probably a lost cause) or a Y (Yvonne, Yvette, Yolanda, Yul...?)

Thanks!

Smokey Robinson - Madam X

Simples ;)

I think this is the best suggestion so far. But I think the name is supposed to start with the letter X. I guess it does in this case because Madam isn't part of the name.

The other side is better - Need of Love

thanks ernie will have to check it out

Totally not Northern Soul :D but I enjoy all kinds of soul and dance music and remember this one from nearly 20 years ago.

Madam X is indeed the best suggestion...I've never heard the song, though and can find only a live clip....

Madam isn't a name Malcom is

Yvonne is the title of the B side to Jerry Williams- If You Ask Me

Chip Tyler's cover of "If you ask me" has the same B-side, but it's titled "I love you Yvonne".
