  • Well IMHO it is great Northern. We know it isn't Soul but thats not the point, it is as Nev rightly pointed out a dance scene that revolved around a beat as much as anything.

Don't think so, she recorded for (at least) 2 labels as Vicki Baines - Karen Young was a white UK singer, unless you mean someone else?

i think he means FARON young pete,...he's a country bumpkin!! :D

I must be one of the few people to have had a demo and an issue at the same time. I got the issue off Ebay, saw it, no bids, offered the guy $150 and got it (this was in 2000). The day it arrived, I'd bought one off someone, might have been Kev Roberts, for £400 I think it was. The two arrived on the same day. By the weekend they had both gone. I got £1000 worth of trades for the issue.

I personally think it's worth about £800 on demo.

i got ex+ issue of Rod Shard in1986 for £120.00 pounds 'real bargain compared to the silly prices of today

i got a stock copy from Rod Shard in 1986 for £120 pounds' don't think i would buy one now for £1200 pounds its crazy money.

YEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAA PARDNERS!!.......THE DANCEFLOORS ARE STILL HEAVING TO IT!!........THE SOUND OF WESTERN SOUL

I cant believe some of the stuff I'm reading on here, you disenters really need to get your ears washed out  How is this record in any way country & western like?

Its pure northern soul dance floor magic!! Sounds as good now as when RS played it in 78/9

Its nearly as bad as someone describing the Hopkins Brothers as funk :g:

im not knocking it steve, ive got a copy and its in my top 3 of ALL-TIME...it might lack the "soul" element but for sheer spine tingling memories of 1978 and the casino dancefloor jumping & the unison handclapping....IT DONT GET MUCH BETTER!!.......just thought id stir up them cowpokes! :D

Howdee partner, and welcome to the C&W Hoe-down forum.:D:

Listen up, no one said that Vickie Baines was a C&W record, it's a Niter sound, we only mentioned that it was found in a Hillbilly warehouse in Allentown and then all of a sudden all these gringos started scaring the horses. Yee-haw! Ride safely now.

I don't mind them either but the stamp on this one should say 'pants'

Not for me but I am surprised by the price. Has it always gone for that much?

It is and always will be utter hoe-down garbage to my ears, that horrible Spector-esque, YEEEEEH-HAAAAAW music to shag your sister to....on a blanket on the ground  .. :shhh: ...but I understand why people like it and I wont knock them for that.

Come on steve......it,s a nasty pop record awful piece of work...........is it coming out on john A's label?

See!
