  • YOu do all know that there is a third press which is a bootleg right?

  • the question that got cleared up wasn't whether it was a real 60s record, it was just whether it was truly legitimate as claimed

  • I think what Dave is getting at Bob is this is considered nothing more than a legalised boot, done purely for the purpose of exploiting the Northern Soul scene rather than ensuring the owner gets what

supposedly legitimate reissues

supposedly legitimate reissues

If remember rightly they weren't done by the label owner but whoever did them had his permission?

Manship wrote in his bootleg guide, it was a legal 2nd issue, complete with "Nashville matrix" as the original moulding plates broke with the first issues and values it at £90, but Tim Brown disputes the authenticity in his guide. It would be nice for someone to clear this up though.

john manship is correct, whilst in detroit many moons ago, these copies appeared as legit issues from the label owner in 25 count boxes, all brand new and offered to a well known record dealer while i was in his shop.

Thanks for that, glad it is now cleared up, good topic though?

its been cleared up many times....not orig 60`s but made about 15 years ago

lets just stick to the fact its a boot bob....orig green nashville stamped is the only way to go. it gets unnecessarily complcated after that and besides it might deter people from paying daft money for it

I was wondering whether the recent batch were from a further run off as the seller has been putting them on Ebay every week

what is a "legalised boot" and how is that different than a legitimate reissue? Yes it was done for the northern scene, but if it was done by the label owner and he wholesaled it to other people, how is it a bootleg? Yes it's not an original press from the 60s, nobody is disputing that. Posts above gave evidence of it being a legitimate reissue and I said "that resolves that issue" and then I got the curt response "lets just stick to the fact its a boot bob....". Did I offend someone? Nowhere did I say that it was a 60s original and I got a rude response that contradicted all the posts above me that gave evidence of the specific question being asked. nobody said it should be worth more than $50 and nobody said that it was from the 60s. If it's a legit reissue it's not a "boot", according to the "facts".

Don't fret Bob. In the strange world of NS, anything that's not OVO is a 'boot' (go figure).

Many don't even accept that (say) a UK or Euro version of a US 45 that got released over here within weeks of the US 45 hitting the shelves is OVO.

STRANGE certainly is the appropriate adjective to go with Northern Soul.

Bob I couldn't care what it is really to be honest, I would never buy one not for what people ask for it. I certainly wouldn't pay £40, £50 or £60 for something that should cost a tenner tops. Any other "reissue" is a tenner so why is this four or five times more expensive, even more in some cases? There seems to be far more copies about than other "reissues" as well.

Some simply don't like reissues done purely to exploit the UK Northern Soul Scene and collectors, legit or not.

As I understood the owner didn't press them but gave his permission, either way I have no real interest in it.

As for Dave's response he will have to tell you why he was curt, maybe it's the Yorkshire man in him coming out, we like to get straight to the point.

There have been some expensive reissues done by certain people in the UK. Ace/Kent also does reissues. I wouldn't call either of them "legalized boots".

Either way, this has degenerated into splitting hairs, probably not worth discussing anymore. Nobody in the thread ever said it was an original 60s press. Thanks.

Just saying how "some" view certain reissues Bob over here.

Also gold and usually found on Uk eBay

well well well i have upset someone.. bob i didnt mean to be abrupt that wasnt my intention. i just thought it was a waste going over the legitimacy of this 45 again. fair enough it was done from the original plate but i dont think its legit and even if it is i dont understand why anyone would pay over £20..just my opinion but if folk want to thats up to them seeing as the green 60`s copy isnt exactly affordable......if you gotta have the vinyl....just dont play it out lol... but seriously popcorns gone now and i cant recall him saying much in his lifetime about it and if its legit someone pressed them up and they would have no qualms in saying so if legit
