I always assumed that the US King George & the guy who used that name in Sweden / Denmark were two different guys ............

Many of these biogs make me laugh, this one says that Drive On James was released in England and climbed the charts, it didn't even come anywhere near the charts, I was reading a biog on a reggae singer the other day and it said his record was issued in the UK and made the top 10, it didn't even chart, I think they presume every record released in the Uk makes the chart!

Many soul / reggae artists if told that a 45 of theirs gets lots of club plays and is sought after by collectors equate those facts to it being a 'hit'.

Mind you, most of the time I can't understand much that goes on within the UK soul / NS / MS scenes, so I don't suppose we can expect an American or Jamaican to understand what takes place here.

My son works for a Danish company & is always over there ......

..... but the chances of him agreeing to go looking for a copy of this 45 whilst in Copenhagen are between zero & 0%.

The chances of finding this 45 when casually browsing for records in Copenhagen are probably between zero & 0% as well. I've seen 4 copies in 10 years. 3 of them without picture sleeve.

I'll scan the picture sleeve on my copy and post it here. I can't find it on the net anywhere.

I'm not into his version of MBLTB but do rate his 4 track Swedish ep, has some killer r'n'b movers, favourite is Please Grow Up but all are worth a listen, on a weird little label that would send out 45's for free if to you collected coupons from ice cream packets, don't know how many different releases there were like this (Seb?) but have another that has a truly top shelf psych garage track by the Fleurs, how this got sent out to Scandinavian kiddies is beyond me

I adored Drive On James as a teenager, I think I must have heard it on Radio London, quite a few times. It's the epitome of soul for mods for me.

I think it's an interesting version of MBLTB. Much slower than Don Gardner's, and not particularly suited for the dancefloor, but a nice oddity.

I know of four other EPs on the CLUB TEEN label apart from Les Fleurs and Harlem Kiddies. They are by Things, Tumble Downs, The Sheltones and New Generations. All of them are hard to find.
