I'm keen to learn of any (relatively) contemporary artists that are making music that soul fans believe maintain and build upon the heritage of the most creative soul music era of the 60's and 70's. So far I've found a limited number of recent releases (For example some tracks by Cody ChesnutT and Kylie Auldist fit the bill. Are others finding anything from current artists that would stand up to scrutiny against the giants of the past?
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings isn't bad although sometimes seems something of a 'pastiche' of what soul should be, but still better than most, especially that endless list of female British white R
