personally despite all the doom and gloom in the real world ive had a good year soulwise...not bragging just wanna share and hear some positives!

in no particular order...

picked up loads of good records including a half a dozen big wants which i didnt think would be in my price range...

heard shit loads of brilliant 'new to me' tunes...wants list is now a book the size or war and peace

been to about 13 alnighters and 3 alldayers ..i think...

only had about 6 weekends in...

met loads of new friends...

dj'd a few new venues and already picked up a dozen 'bookings' for 2013...

and after losing our venue we found a bigger and better one and havnt had under 100 in yet

not soul but...my lambretta hasnt broken down!!...which means more money available for vinyl...

thats its so far...still 3 nights out in 2012...half a dozen new tunes in the post...roll on 2013!!

hows yours?...hopefully as good or better than mine

2012 - Lots to say but too little time to say it!

Health has been up & Down but hopefully better now.

Retire in 9 weeks!

Not been to may Soul nights this year but probably alot more in 2013

Highlight for me was doing BIR (banbury Internet radio)- What a great laugh it was especially the Pub Singer record! and Ive even been asked back Beaver and all!

Bought quite a few tunes and sold quite a few (nothing changes there)

Happy New year to all!

What's the story behind the pub singer record Ernie?

Big Joe Turner's Two Loves Have I, always reminds me of a pub singer

Anyways, what the story mate?

Aid.

Hi Aid

The pub singer was a record I played on BIR

It was called "You are the honey for me" - By Jimmy Pendleton on Julie records out of New Jersey.

The backing track is brilliant but the singer is so out of tune its unbeliveable but somehow it ooozes real Soul! I was castagated by listeners for playing it but a few then contacted me on SS asking more about it. Its very rare indeed.
