I don't think you're in a minority, the track suffers as being lp only.

Its a fantastic tune you might be right about suffering from being album only,as winstons version is easily obtainable on 45.

The version by Naturals on SHOUT is also decent. I personally like the country version by Linda Martell as well.

New to me today too after reading your post just now. Love it, thanks, alongside Winstons & other versions.

 

 

Tempo & backing of the Winstons version is similar to this I think...Abraham & his Sons - Your Mother Understood. Not too off topic I hope!  

 

The lp arrived Friday, and I gave it a complete listen today. Color Him Father and another track or two good, but the album as a whole has several naff covers and some duff fillers. Great to have for this track alone. Got it for $14 U.S. all in for a EX- original.
