right now, i am drinking a beer and watching a blaxploitation movie from 1973 called Detroit 9000. the opening scene features a black group performing a song "touch me jesus." i looked up on the internet that this song was recorded by Glass House in 1971 (it is a Holland-Dozier-Holland song). The group in the movie has a lead female vocalist that sounds exactly (at least to me) like the lead singer from Sisters Love.

does anyone know off hand who this group might be? (it just doesn't sound the the Glass House version to me)

  • That is all in the link above, I'd already said it was the Blossoms and not Glass House.

  • Here you go, from the Detroit 9000 movie , Laura Lee comes in at around 3 mins 50 secs.   Anyone recognise any of the boys in the backing band ?  Some Detroit soul legends perhaps ?

The lead singer on "Touch Me Jesus" is actually Darlene Love. I think this was her 1st and only session for Invictus.
