July 5, 200618 yr I'm pretty sure I've got the book that those came out of, but I thought the Louvin Brothers cover design was great, and I especially liked "The karatist Priest" and the woman with no hands who played the organ...a true miracle.
July 5, 200618 yr some odd looking characters on them album sleeves - some of them make Wayne Rooney good lookin'!

I love the Louvin Brothers cover as well Pete. Q magazine did a supplement called 'The 100 Best Record Covers of All Time' (which I was lucky enough to get a sleeve featured in) and this was included. Apparently they built the devil themselves - it was 12ft high and made of plywood. The 'hellfire' was created by burning tyres in a disused quarry. It started to rain and they were pelted with burning rock fragments. No Photoshop in those days!
July 5, 200618 yr looks like a day in my local asda supermarket here in hatfield! definately some village relationships there. the joyce cover looks like tootsie one bloke thought he was gary glitter going out with a 15yr old and what about that geezer with the boss eyes then the no handed organist doing her version of "put your hand in the hand"
July 5, 200618 yr Most of them look like someone in the family has got too a little too close to some other family member.......any of them from Norfolk? the other Tone
July 5, 200618 yr Here's an album I picked up from the car boot sale the other day for 25p. Great cover design and containing a version of Sunny that is so soulful other versions just dont get anywhere near

Of course these are all albums. It really does make you wonder what lies behind some of the singles we cherish!!!
July 5, 200618 yr some odd looking characters on them album sleeves - some of them make Wayne Rooney good lookin'! Or even Ian Dowie! HASENT MILLIE JACKSON GOT A BIG PAIR OF KNOCKERS. She did have - until some low-life stole them off her front door!
July 5, 200618 yr Really glad you posted those covers. A bird I knew in about 1982 had the Millie Jackson on cassette. It was too small to appreciate Millie's assets properly. Always wondered what the lp sleeve would look like!
July 5, 200618 yr im sure thats russ winstanley on the right of picture on the country church album must be a casino classic on there somewhere

The guy in the film is chasing this LP, it's his holy grail. (Good movie, see it! )
July 5, 200618 yr looks like a day in my local asda supermarket here in hatfield I've been in that Asda and can confirm that this is true!
July 5, 200618 yr I've seen other LP's like some of the ones you've depicted, they are usually a family of gospel singers from the southern USA that put out their own LP's or cassettes.Hate to say I've had a few and had to give em away.
July 6, 200618 yr bad single covers would be erm Hoddle and Waddle lol. or do people think they looked good to make the song a little better lol. Some of the Euro records are simple with pics of the artist on front and name like Rex Gildo.
