Just read that Henry Stone has passed away.  Legendary R&B, Soul, Disco record producer, label owner.  

 

Thank you for the music Henry.  R.I.P.

You could have a good night out on Henry Stone's music alone.  His contribution ranks up there with the best IMO.

Sad indeed got a fantastic DVD off val shiveley big interview with Henry on stage answering any questions from a small audience including Val...Henry seemed to be real down to earth guy

Just read this. Very sad news. He was very good company.

I spent some time with him years ago  ago and he was commenting on the Northern scene and for some reason that escapes me about Simon Soussan's book.

. Henry said that he threw away 100's of acetates from Motown. A lot of them were of unreleased tracks. He said that Motown fed him stuff all the time because as well as being their distributor for Florida he "took a chance" and also supplied other States/areas which he was not supposed to ship into. As a result he sold a lot of Motown records and said he was sent acetates all the time. |
