The Chances – A better day is coming / People wake up before it’s too late – Finch 106232

Beautiful mid-tempo group soul from Ohio with a killer flip. Mint apart from some label discoloration.

Visual grade: EX

£300

Clastyle – How close / Remix – Kingdom

Rare as hen’s teeth killer boogie track from Louisiana.

Visual grade: Strong VG

£250

Thunder, Lightning & Rain – Super funky Pt I/II – Saadia 1609

Deep funk on the legendary Miami label. If it turns up, which is not that often, it’s usually beat up but this is the cleanest copy you’ll ever see.

Visual grade: M-

£220

J.C.M. and The Cosmonauts – This is my hour Pt I/II – Hope 101

Totally unknown instrumental funk 45 with a deep break and a cool arrangement. Quite possibly your only chance in a lifetime to pick this up.

Visual grade: VG

£200

The Ballads – We know / This is magic – Tina 102

Firme mid-60s Philly roller. Very elusive, even amongst serious collectors.

Visual grade: VG+

£200

Westpoint – High steppin’ / Come and get the love – Hitmaker 1027

Seriously tough to find boogie killer in top condition.

Visual grade: M-

£180

Little Gigi – Take the bitter with the sweet / I’m hurt and so is my heart – Soul 102

New Breed R&B and a sure shot dance floor filler. Tricky to find on the first label. Clean and probably not played very much at all but there’s a small damaged area in the run in groove that could develop in a crack if treated without care. NAP of course.

Visual grade: VG+

£170

Lola Sands – To whom it may concern / Faded love – Bison 001

Clean copy of this northern girl dancer.

Visual grade: M-, warp NAP

£160

Eddie Holland – But it’s alright / I don’t want to cry – A Talent Attraction 302

Sixties dancer and apparently a recent 100 club spin by a guy from North Carolina who just happened to go by the same name as the Motown legend. This one hardly ever turns up and the pic sleeve is even harder to find.

Visual grade: sleeve VG vinyl EX

£100

The Feminine Touch – Groove me / All kinds of people – Fem-Touch 10423

Driving Florida crossover rarity. Very clean copy.

Visual grade: EX

£100

Visual grade: M-

£80

Deeper than deep eerie Ohio sweet soul cut. An absolute personal fave.

Visual grade: EX

£80

Joey Dee’s – Your love / I got to have you – Me-o 222

Lesser known release on this legendary but it’s a beautifully produced and arranged rarity that cuts deep.

Spiritual 80s So-Cal sweet soul.

Visual grade: VG+

Raw DC funk that usually fetches three figures.

Visual grade: VG+

£60

Zig and Gaboon’s Gang – Let’s get fired up / same – Orleans International, Ltd. 001

Super obscure 80s boogie jam. Zig is Zigaboo Modeliste of Meters fame, which increases the awesomeness of this 45 by at least than 70%.

Visual grade: EX

£60

The Edwards Generation – Thats how much I love her / Starlite starbrite – Tight 301

Mid-70s Cali funk with two cuts from the sought-after “Street Thang” album.

Visual grade: VG+

Ohio sweet soul beauty. Not the cleanest copy by any means but plays through ok without slips.
