Colton Thomas has reported (via Facebook) that Cash McCall has passed. 

Born Morris Dollison Jr. on January 28, 1941 (in Missouri) Cash was best known for his big 1966 R&B hit "When You Wake Up" but to us soul fans, he's known for much more.

Never tired to hear his Checker 45 double sider of utter excellence with the dramatic ballad screamer 'S.0.S.' on the 'A' side and his raw pounding 'I'm in danger' on the flip. Both 1967 Chicago guts grabbers.

Sad news.

A very versatile music man involved in so many records.

Reunited with many of his fellow stars now, there's sure to be a big concert upstairs.
