Originally a Yate tune, played by Clarkie there for a year before Stafford. But there again alot of the early stuff credited to Stafford had first seen the light of day at Yate as Dave Withers, Gary Rushbrooke, Clarkie, Ady Pountain and Myself, were all DJing at Yate, the year before Stafford started.

Thanks for that - always thought of it as a Stafford sound, think Keb used to play it after Gary Rushbrooke retired.

In whihc case my next posted clip may well be a Yate sound too as it was another early Rushbrooke spin - J. Finch and the Specials ...

Quick question Dave.

I have the Stafford story CD, but are there any other Stafford CDs?

What in your opinion is the best 'Stafford' CD?

As far as I know this is the only legit one to be done. Was talk of a volume 2, but to date nothing. Maybe I'll speak to Tim. But alot of good stuff also appeared on The Northern Soul Of L.A, vol 2-Goldmine GSCD 39

I have talked to Tim about doing some more with Andy Dyson, cds featuring Dave asd the promoter and his choice of what Stafford was about and then others with impout from the DJ's with the emphasis on the stuff not already in the mainstream. Plenty ogf great tracks yet to be "discovered" by todays dance floors.

Maybe we can grab Tim @ Lifeline Dave?

 Got to agree with that statement.

Responsable for a lot of cheap gems, i always liked 'You Crack Me Up' too.

In regards to the whole thread, i regret drifting away before & not experiancing Stafford, apart from the odd uptempo modern sound, i don't think i have ever heard a tune associated with that place that i don't like.

At the last Sheridans nighter, Chris King played a great track from back then, Eddie Holman c/u You Done Me Wrong. Anyone got mp3?

Okay like this game now, sure that most of the records I put up can be challenged whether they are Stafford sounds, however my criteria is I have memories of them there (we will ignore the dementia problem for now) so have counted them. This however surely has no dispute. Picture it, Guy H elevated on decks, demonic look, fag with 12" ash, clicking his fingers in the most soulfull manner possible, does it get any better. Is this the sort of Nostalgia that can aid progression, I hope so,The record of the era FOR ME, and such a record!

Mr Sharp again? Who cares, stomping record of its time, closest Stafford got to resounding handclaps, maybe not, but hey memories are only an illusion!!

Hmm maybe chancing it with this one, remember being in Kebs house with this, I thought nah a bit to popppy, a few hours later I was dancing round the floor to it, very infectious out loud, and love how the foghorns build all the way through!!

Okay Joan is whipping me with quality so need to go for the left field stuff. Again, maybe a bit earlier than Stafford, but fairly sure it featured at least up stairs!!! A lot of Northern but not too much soul, forgive me Superintendant!
