Unknown Artist – Show you / I love ya – Preservation Project 012

Amazing discovery by the Preservation crew. The A side is an irresistible dancer that will surely turn some heads at your next soul do, flip side is a deep beauty of unknown provenance.

Limited edition of 300 black and 200 clear issues, no represses. This is your only chance to get ‘em at this price so do not sleep on this one.

Visual grade: M-

Black vinyl €15

Smoky clear vinyl €25

Smith & Gordera – Evil deeds / Time & Space - Preservation Project 013

And while we’re at it, you might also wanna check out this jazz funk fusion monster. Flipside is a cool psych groove thing with a Dave Brubeck twist.

Limited edition of 300 black and 100 pink issues, no represses.

Black vinyl €15

Pink vinyl €25

Matthew Barnett – If your love is real / My only love – Puff 1005

Rare detroit double-sider of the highest order. Very clean copy.

Visual grade: EX to M-

New Born Lite – You sure did mean a lot / Journey of no return – Soul Sauce 7777

Very tough to find Ohio ballad. Lots of superficial marks but plays remarkably strong.

Visual grade: VG-

Cathy and Cookie – That man of mine / Hi diddle de diddle – Bit B-7-12-64

Beautiful atmospheric femme popcorn. Superficial marks but a very strong player.

Visual grade: Strong VG

Jon Lucien – Search for the inner self / It’s bigger than I – Ampex 11036

Spiritually charged crossover soul stunner. Copy looks ultra clean, intro plays with a slight swoosh that shouldn’t detract.

Visual grade: M-

Edee Leatherwood – Make it last / When he calls me – Chi Heat 102

Soulful Chicago perfection on the rare first label.

Visual grade: M-

New Sound – Na na na / Danny rap – London 80-5.680 Belgium Issue

Deep funk that’s impossible to find on Turbo and not that much easier on a Belgian PS (believe me, I’ve tried). A lot of Belgian picture sleeves were issued with two separate papers. These were put together with sticker here.

Visual grade: Vinyl VG+ to EX Sleeve VG

Joe Bataan – What good is a castle / My cloud – Uptite 0019

Finally found a clean one after only 15 years. Both sides total killers but I guess that’s an established fact by now.

Visual grade: EX

Blaze Foley – Oval room / Girl scour cookies – Vital 7077

Killer killer folk edged anti-presidential, slightly breezy groover. Standout tune from the cult album.

Visual grade: M-, slight warp NAP

Larry Dale – Feelin’ all right / No tellin’ what I’ll do – Herald 463 DJ Copy

Infectious jump blues / raw R&B rocker on a cool white demo.

Visual grade: clean VG

Lee Calvin – Easy, easy / You got me – Sansu 463 DJ Copy

Yet another Allen Toussaint penned beauty, and a strong house favorite, by a former member of The Del Royals that you may know from their releases on the Minit label. Strong player.

Visual grade: VG

Holly Maxwell – Only when you’re lonely / Let him go for himself – Constellation 162

Top drawer mid-tempo sound with appeal for the lowrider and popcorn scenes, and basically everyone with ears. Remastered 2010 version with extra oomph in the lower frequencies.

Visual grade: EX

Denise La Salle – A love reputation / One little thing – Tarpon 6603

Driving Chicago classic. Lots of marks but benefits from the super strong press. Used to be my DJ copy and never had any complaints (well not more than usual anyway)

Visual grade: VG-

Society, Inc – Disc jockey jam / Society – Bet 494-5

Lively Indiana funk 45. Very first press before the title switch to ‘Precious Weed’

Visual grade: M-

Rick Lancelot – Sick chick / Ain’t that soul – Peppermint Stick 2000

Early R&B outing by the man who would later go on to sing on several Frank Zappa albums in the mid-70s.

Visual grade: VG+ to EX

Chris Clark – Love’s gone bad / same – V.I.P. 25038 DJ Copy

Heavy-hitting Motown dancer on a rare demo. Flipside label has a sticker.

Visual grade: EX

Dee Dee Sharp – Deep dark secret / Good – Cameo 335

Classic northern oldie an immensely heavy production. Surface marks on this one but plays very nicely and looks oh so pretty in the company sleeve (that’s pretty hard to come by nowadays btw)

Visual grade: VG-

Gary Bartz NTU Troop – Standin’ on the corner / Dr Follow’s dance – Prestige 760

Two tracks from the 1973 album ‘Follow, The Medicine Man’. Tougher on a 45 than one might think

Visual grade: EX

Kilowatt – Kil-o-watt Pt I/II – Airwave AW7-94990

Overlooked electro-funk bomb that’s deceptively rare on a 45.

Visual grade: VG+, slight warp NAP

11thCommandment – Dance with me / Move it, groove it – RJ 11C

Brilliant Detroit disco dancer that’s still somewhat overlooked. Destined to be a future classic.

Visual grade: M-

The Eldees – Don’t be afraid to love / You broke my happy heart – Dynamics 1013

Unique energy on this early Detroit soul 45 by talented writer Beverly Dewitt Yancey, father of J-Dilla. He also co-wrote It’s A Shame but never got credited, a specialty of the house over at Motown.

Visual grade: M-

Boogie Down Productions – Jack of spades / I’m still #1 – Jive 1168-7

Crisp clean company sleeved copy of BDP on top of their game.

Visual grade: M-, storage warp NAP

The Four Sonics Plus One – Tell me you’re mine / Lost without you – Sepia 1

Lorraine Chandler production on this short-lived but all killer no filler Sepia label.

Visual grade: EX, storage warp NAP

Eddie Parker – Crying clown / I need a true love – Triple B 0001

Deep mid-tempo Detroit from a period when the Chandler-Ashford connection turned everything they touched into gold.

Visual grade: EX

LaVon Bridges – With a smile / We were young – Gloreco 1003

Early mid-tempo popcorn soul on the legendary Detroit imprint. Looks unplayed but plays with a bit of noise like all copies. Tough to find a clean one at this price.

Visual grade: M-

The Movements – You don’t know / Let’s get involved – Peanut Country 1002

Moody sweet ballad that’s still wayyy underrated. Beautiful copy.

Visual grade: M-

The Manhattans – All I need is your love / Our love will never die – Carnival 526

Gritty sixties dancer that doesn’t pop up on too many playlists yet. Looks unplayed but pressing has some minor bubbling.

Visual grade: EX
