Mixed bag of the unusual and the not-so-unusual, unsold from last week’s listings.

Some great quality bargain rare soul here. Great 45s but I just never play them.

Postage to be added. PayPal F&F (or please add 4% to cover my fees) or bank transfer.

(1)    Chuck Carter – “I’ve Done You Wrong” (Bedford) VG+ some lbl wr  £30

  • Another fine overlooked dancer with R&B/funk overtones

(2)    Chuck Overton – “Is It Possible” / “I’m So Thankful” (Kapp WD) VG+/EX   £50

(3)    Clarence Reid – “I Refuse To Give Up” (Wand DJ) EX  £40

  • Superb slab of mid-tempo 60s Detroit

(6)    Earl Lett – “Green Power (Part 1)” (Beantown) EX  £30

  • Get past the interesting 45 second intro and you’re rewarded with a powerful deep funk classic

(7)    Eddie Griffin – “Miss Pretty Pt1” (San-Ray) EX £100

  • Superb and obscure pounding Northern R&B 60s dancer with a touch of a funk kick
  • How this hasn’t had attention before is beyond me - great value for the money

(8)    The Esquires – “Henry Ralph” (Hot Line promo) EX/VG+  £40

  • Double-sided promo (not My Sweet Baby on the flip)

(9)    Gino Washington – “Doing The Pop Corn” (Atac WD) EX £40

(10)  The Jives – “Love” / “I Want You” (Tear Drop) EX  £75

(12)  Johnny Mae Mathews – “My Momma Didn’t Lie” (Big Hit) VG+  £75

  • Slight water staining on labels
  • OK, so not the rare issue with the big flip but this is brilliant enough

(14)  Larry Birdsong – “Every Night Of The Week” (Sur-Speed WD) VG+  £40

  • Not the early version on Champion, this is Larry’s later recording
  • A fantastic growling 60s mid-tempo dancer

(16)   Lil Ernie Johnson – “Cold Cold Heart” (Ride) VG  £30

  • Stunningly good slab of 70s funk with a message

(24)  Tiny Powell – “Get My Hat” (Ocampo) EX  £100

  • Gritty mid tempo pounding 60s R&B dancer – great record and not easy to find in good condition

(25)  Tyrone Ashley – “I Want My Baby Back” (Phil LA of Soul) VG+  £30

  • Vinyl press - marker pen across label on “Let Me Be Your Man” side
  • Scuff on “I Want” side but plays great

(26)  Vick & John – “Lonely Man” / “Don’t Dish Out (More Than You Can Take)” (Allert) EX  £40

  • Two superb mid-60s sides – really is a very fine record and doesn't seem well known
  • Nice dancer on one side and then “Lonely Man” is a stunning moody mid-tempo slab of soul which would grace any set

(27)  Wallace Brothers – “I Need Someone” / “Airborne Shuffle” (Jewel) EX/M-   £50

·       Stunning 60s low-rider/beat ballad side with a great funk-edged Northern flip
