Posted February 23, 200718 yr Has anyone any tracks they think are grossly undervalued, or just ignored because of their relative availability? A TK Maxx of Northern Soul if you like. I'll post a few up, just as soon as I get this dial-up cranked up enough.
March 1, 200718 yr I should coco! Which amongst us can listen to "Secret Agents" and remain looking dignified... I like that description very much !
March 1, 200718 yr Here's one.... Doris Willingham-You Can't Do That Jay Boy (US) awesome record....best $12 I've ever spent. Doris W.-You Can't Do That Can anyone tell me what other releases there were on the US Jay Boy imprint?? -Mike No idea, but it was the first UK Jay Boy release wasn't it? I still have a UK copy from way, way back. (Doris Willingham is the real name of Doris Duke of "To The Other Woman" fame for those who don't know...) Edited March 1, 200718 yr by mel brat

March 1, 200718 yr Two that can be picked up for around 50p each and will surely rise in value to maybe a couple of quid each in the next year or so. Click on the label to play. Eeee.. By gum....I think this Joe Simon is a really good little record...

March 1, 200718 yr blimey - surely recorded post 1969 pete (hence your shock?) Exactly. Bloody fantastic record. In fact, there was one in that job lot of crap I received last week and it's been on my deck for 6 or 7 days now, when the little one comes in and wants to play a record (well he likes to stop the deck with his hand and press the reject button) we play this one and I swear he's started to sway at the start now p.s. when the Lovelites get it off my conscience went big in 77, loads and loads of people bought this by mistake, including me, but I liked it and always have Edited March 1, 200718 yr by Pete-S

March 1, 200718 yr Sorry about the quality of Gary & Gary - poor recording. Just proves you don't need a big fat wad of cash to find a good record. You can do a brilliant hour spot with £150 worth of records That's my gripe - DJ's who won't play "Cheapies" even though they are bl**dy good tracks!
March 2, 200718 yr I always loved "Just Can't Make It Anymre" Spyder Turner as a very ubdervalued track. Great memories!
March 3, 200718 yr Just been reading the Mike Terry interview from Dave Rimmer's Soulful Kinda Music on the Mike Terry thread, and he mentioned working with The Esquires on what I think is a great little tune and a cheapy to boot....."You've Got The Power" on Wand...probably pick it up for a tenner or less...a bargain .
March 3, 200718 yr What about-Joe Cato-Im So Glad-Chess .One of the best tunes ive heard in a while and for under£20.00 Howaed Tate-Its Too Late-Turntable Brilliant uptempo dancer for£5.00
March 3, 200718 yr The Sandpipers "Young generation" (Kismet) KI 394 I think I read someone say this group is not the Detroit outfit that recorded for Giant? In any event, much much much cheaper than them, and a typically rythmic Trade Martin production that most people will probably know, and most other people will probably have flicked past in sales boxes. Got to be played to the average Northern Soul crowd just to glory in the irony of the lyrics. Mine was a late addition, a couple of years ago. I think an eminently reasonable fiver from Pete Smith.
