1   Darrell Banks – Somebody (Somewhere) Needs You – Revilot RV203 Ex+ £45 very slight label aging only & feint scuffs on vinyl but plays superbly throughout, Detroit classic with much copied backing track

2   J J Barnes – Please Let Me In – Ric-Tic RT106 Ex+ £75 conservatively graded, very feint barely visible scuffs plays fine throughout & no cue burn on intro as most have, all-time classic that you won’t find in Detroit now in this condition

3   Carolyn Crawford – Forget About Me b/w Devil In His Heart – Motown M1050 M- £100 lovely vinyl issue, double sided mid-tempo girlie perfection, at her best

4   Sugar Pie DeSanto – I Don’t Wanna Fuss – Checker 1093  M- £20 Chicago R & B club classic

5   The Dontells – In Your Heart (You Know I’m Right) – Vee Jay VJ666 WDJ Ex+ £45 vinyl demo, most are styrene, of this superb Chicago group double sider, upbeat classic & superb mid-tempo flip, light surface marks only plays M-

6   The Fantastic Four – Can’t Stop Looking For My Baby b/w Just The Lonely – Ric-Tic RT121 Ex+ £125 always been a tough one on the label, realistically priced due to light label wear / aging only vinyl plays M-, mid-tempo Detroit perfection awesome lyrics & vocals from James Epps on lead & check out the superb mid-pace flip, lists up to £200 now

7   Lou Johnson – Unsatisfied – Big Top 101 M- £75 very slight ring wear on label vinyl M- & the rarer yellow label format for this all-time big city soul classic

8   Bessie Jones – No More Tears – Abet 9424 Ex+ £250 actually a demo copy, Not For Sale crossed through, slight label aging / small tear but vinyl near mint & plays as such hence price, books at £350 now, old St Ives & East Midlands favourite, uptempo girlie stormer seldom listed

9   Barbara Lewis – Someday We’re Gonna Love Again b/w Spend A Little Time – Atlantic 45-2227 WDJ M- £50 all-time girlie classic, great uptempo dancer Detroit penned by Sharon McMahan & superb mid-pace flip, nice vinyl demo

10 The Puzzles – My Sweet Baby b/w I Need You – Fat Back Records FB216 M- £80 aka The Diplomats / Skullsnaps, two fabulous mid-tempo crossover dancers, ex Cleethorpes spin

11 The Short Kuts feat. Eddie Harrison – Your Eyes May Shine b/w Letting The Tears Tumble Down – Pepper 434 Ex+ £70 drivin’ uptempo Stax style dancer note the credits & superb mid-pace flip, very feint scuffs only plays as mint

12 The Spindells – To Make You Mine b/w And The Band Played On – ABC Paramount 45-10802 Ex+ £75 bargain price, vinyl issue copy, light surface marks only plays superbly throughout, two great sides mid-tempo dancer ex Wilton spin & uptempo classic on flip
