(Quintessential femme northern dancer, such an uplifting track. On that beautifully designed red and black label with brooch. Drill hole)

Sam & Kitty – I’ve got something good – Four Brothers 452 WD Ex+ £475

(1966 dancer that’s filled every floor for years, and causing one of Northerns biggest assumptions for years, the identity of Kitty, filled by Edith Brown but more recent evidence suggests Katherine Stewart aka Miss Kitty Grove pairing up with Leroy Dandridge. Chicago label, but the rare one, a lined demo pressed a Monarch on the west coast, few and far between these and in gorgeous condition, just a couple of light marks, DNAP)

Curtis Liggins Indication – What it is – Kaycee-Soul 102 Promo M- £450

(Short lived band and label. Only 2 releases for the Kansas City scene where the Indications were strutting their stuff. Fabulous lead vocals, a presence that grows as the tracks goes on, overlaid on cool group vocals. Beautiful emerald green labels, sweet vinyl, very light wave on edge, DNAP)

Theola Kilgore – It’s gonna be alright – Mercury 72564 M- £100

(Gerry Goffin and Carole King seal of distinction. Tidy flip as well, on a beautiful red stock copy, with just a drill hole that’s stops me stating its flawless)  

Jackie Shane – In my tenement / Comin’ down – Sue 788 Ex £130

(Double sider on this fabulous eye catching ‘Big apple’ label, and 2 excellent examples of Northern with that R&B flavour. Minimal light marks on vinyl both sides, run-in grazes on Tenement plays fine Ex+. Labels, X on Tenement, radio station stamp imprint on Comin’ label. Plays Excellent plus on both sides. Bell Sound stamped)

Velvelettes – These things will keep me loving you – Soul 35025 WD Ex £120

(One of the lushest silkiest smoothest of femme dancers to come out of Motown, and on a rarer west coast demo, just one minor scuff that does not affect play)
