Got 3 of his LP's they are all essential, think mI might be missing at least 1. So many great tracks to choose on all of them from ballads to dancers.

One of the great modern soul artists.

I have only his "Midnight desire", which is a great LP for me. No wonder, the producers being Homer Banks and Chuck Brooks, I think they helped a lot for the quality of the record.

Are the 2 Parachute LP's better than this one ? And what about the Stax one ?

The album you are missing is called "Randy" released on Chocolate City 1981.7 tracks but 2 or 3 have been included on previous albums.Worth picking up for the other tracks tho.

To answer your question, yes the 1st 2 albums are superb but I feel the "Welcome To My Room" LP is the definitive one.

Thanks Phillybuster, I'll try to get "Welcome to my room".

Are the producers the same as on "Midnight Desire" (Homer Banks & Chuck Brooks) ? They also do a great job on Shirley's Brown "Intimate storm".

Top album from a top singer!

All the tracks are good even "Love formula 69" and "We ought to be doin' it" and Randy was such a complete tart when it came to the ladies too.

One of his 9 Chains sides also came out on another label- I remember it being green but cannot for the life of me remember what the label was called without checking back at the ranch.

I also like his later Sound Town stuff too.......even the Christmas record!

Steve

We all had a great time with Randy late 80's .When my good friends from Threeway/Time is Right put him back in the studio .. "Are you lonley" being popular  His brothers were quite prolific too !

yep , fantastic times indeed  There's a 7'' version of "Are you lonely" knocking around
