Also featured later in the show is the AA of this single "Starting Over" - both are sure fya hits with Warrior FM DJs - check Johnny Blaze's interviews with Astral 22 Records & artists also. More new tracks from Mark De Clive Lowe's excellent self titled new "The Politik" LP. Bembe and Mark this time in a pensive track "She's Gone", later in the show also from the album is another downtempo track "Black Sun". MDCL's The Politik - "The Politik" EP & LP are out now on Antipodean Records. More new music from Van Hunts new EP on Blue Note - a Moody Neo Funk Rocker "The Lowest 1 Of My Desires". New EP from Van Hunt on Blue Note. More new music from Lisa Mayers - the flip side or extension / part II of "Lifeline" we have the Bugz In The Attic-ish feel of "Hold On" as the AA single available from ukgospel.com It's good to see Martin Solveig back in 'Africanism' Afrobeat stylee with his "Cabao Parona" track as found on the new Defected compilation by Simone Dunmore "Eivissa 07" Which leads nicely into the Afrobeat of Faze Actions re-tread of Femi Kuti. Changing pace we move into some Nu USA Soul from Mr & Mrs team Taniq and "Breakin' My Rules". Keeping with the contemporary RnB feel we move into the 90's track "Everyday & Everynight" by Yvette Michelle. Keeping downtempo but of a different nature we have more Jazz tinged new music from Micheal Dog and "Wears The Sum mer?" Into a great new artist who has pleasantly suprised me - U Meleni and the African tinged "When I Am Thirsty" - This gives a handy transglobal link to the roots section of the show with some timeless but highly influential early blues from Muddy Waters and his Chess classic "Rolling Stone". This song inspired The Rolling Stones for their band name. Know the ROOTS - from a time when R'n'B really meant Rhythm & Blues. i The highly influencial and timeless quality of Muddy Waters. Keeping with the roots and influential masters we move into BB Kings Jump blues of "You Upset Me". keeping with the Memphis artists we have some early (& best period IMO) Elvis and despite there being no drums on the record the still highly funky version of "Milk Cow Blues". Delta ROOTs - BB King & Elvis circa 1955 Keeping with the Delta artists we have a highly influential and classic slice of John Lee Hooker and "This Is Hip". John Lee Hooker, Thee eternally HIP Mr JLH - from Tupulo, Mississipi also birthplace to Elvis Keeping the blues thread we move forward to Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Cross Town Traffic", Jimi's music I have always felt much of it is essentially blues music, with some straight ahead pop songs also within his songs. Keeping with the funk that that sets up then into Kool & The Gang's instrumental "UT". Finishing the show with the live and acoustic Rosalia De'Souza. Rosalia De'Souza live. I hope you enjoy this show and love the roots and new music as much as I do - Paul Aaaron, CEO, WARRIOR FM The above pod / mp3 show is part of Paul Aaaron's weekly radio show - hear the show in full as it goes out live and get your live shout outs and interaction via the chatroom link below at showtime on Wednesdays.
