December 7, 200816 yr People reputedly play about with the faces on the labels - so watch out The vinyl markings noted in the post above are the definitive way to verify authenticity. I have an original and went after a boot on eBay recently, just so I could have both copies in my hands at the same time to check all the details. Then I was going to sell the boot on. However, I lost the auction on the boot - someone paid 40 quid for it!! - I was gobsmacked Cheers Richard

December 7, 200816 yr Just noticed the example boot in manship guide 5 also doesn't have a face on heart at ease side - so have to agree that the face thing ain't good for telling diff. However, noticed on manship original example, also on my copy and on the one on ebay that they all have (difficult to explain) a sort of bite out of the black shape to the right of the man at about knee height. Have a look on ebay and you'll see this on the heart at ease side. Biggray your copy doesn't have this, are you sure its an original? Edited December 7, 200816 yr by Dezzie Boy

Here is the scan of the original from eBay. I have just checked my own original and it has the "bite out" too as you described (plus all the deadwax vinyl marks etc.). Cheers Richard
December 7, 200816 yr mines original and has the face on Could it be you which is the A side and no face on the other
December 7, 200816 yr mines original and has the face on Could it be you which is the A side and no face on the other Yes my original one has the same. Face on A side, no face on B side, plus bite out on B side. Boot also has no face on B side, don't know if A side on boot has a face or not, so not sure if face can be used to distinguish from original. However, looks like we have 4 originals so far with the bite - cheers Richard. Does yours have this bite out Ted?
December 7, 200816 yr This is a close-up of the figure on the Set My Heart At Ease side that I scanned off my copy a couple of years ago, and which I just found again on another site However, as discussed above, the face and figure details are not a good verifier it seems. December 8, 200816 yr forget the faces, original is stamped mgm like. boot is not. dave succint but tottally to the point and correct! BAZ A
December 8, 200816 yr forget the faces, original is stamped mgm like. boot is not. dave dead right Dave, you gotta just ignore the label completely (many have been tampered with over the years, even the originals). Also to take into account the shade of the blue (label shades change on all paper labels, on how much direct-light exposure the label has received during it's life) that theory is naive and pointless and cannot be used as an accurate indicator. The definitive way to authenticate is the VINYL! Which Baz has already previously noted for those who don't have PG5. The funny little MGM matrix we describe as the BED matrix. Because it resembles a BED with pillow, viewed sideways on. You find these on many MGM pressed vinyl but not all. The originals vinyl is much thinner also..
