April 18, 200916 yr ps if its got electronic music in it its not music In all the years I've been on here I think the above is the daftest comment I have ever read
April 18, 200916 yr Author from some of the new R& B that i have heard (only over the net i must add ) it stands for Rubbish & Bollocks!! Steve I didn't ask what you thought of the music I only wanted to hear if anyone could explain this term. Is it just the same term used from the late 50s on "black music" (Billboard R&B charts), but now filled with another meaning?
April 18, 200916 yr Is it just the same term used from the late 50s on "black music" (Billboard R&B charts), but now filled with another meaning? Yes.
April 18, 200916 yr from some of the new R& B that i have heard (only over the net i must add ) it stands for Rubbish & Bollocks!! Steve different class im tending to agree with this
April 19, 200916 yr Is it soul ("modern" soul) and hip hop? I've heard Rhythm & base, but what does that mean.. Anyone I don't even think the Modern R&B artists know that R&B stands for something. What I do know is that there are a lot of good voices out there going to waste. What happened?
April 19, 200916 yr Music evolves. I dont like this new R&B stuff. And agree it bears no relation to the stuff of 50 years ago. But each generation needs to make its music their own. I'm no fan of most of the old R&B, but at least it had balls and a bit of gusto. This new stuff is pale and flacid. Its not like you can even hear the singers. Take this Craig David fella. Its all dubbed computer prowess, morphing his voice so it bears no relation to what is actually coming out of his body. But the kids like it and we dont. So that is just how it should be.
April 19, 200916 yr To me the term R&B was given to describe a type black popular music and is still used for that today , is it soul ? well I suppose it is if your definition of soul is the music that amplifies the black experience . As ever most pop music is crass and serves comercialism but if you scratch beneath the surface true soul is still there our scene has relied on that principle for years the future looks bright
April 23, 200916 yr In all the years I've been on here I think the above is the daftest comment I have ever read u may explain if u like mr dutch mountaineer!!!!!!!!!........i will have a go at mine ....i dont like modern soul with elecctronic drum machine or computer ,non physically human produded noise. ok Edited April 23, 200916 yr by ezzie brown
April 23, 200916 yr well thats clearly nonsense .... what about kraftwerk etc u prove my point dave, kraftwerk......???????? cant even spell
April 23, 200916 yr u prove my point dave, kraftwerk......???????? cant even spell you're obviously lost in soul music and there is no hope if you can't appreciate Kraftwerk and what they achieved ...just an opinion of course
April 23, 200916 yr you're obviously lost in soul music and there is no hope if you can't appreciate Kraftwerk and what they achieved ...just an opinion of course correct dave., very lost ..........i only give my attention to what know i like, very narrow minded , but i enjoy it........i was no good at woodwork at school either
April 23, 200916 yr u may explain if u like mr dutch mountaineer!!!!!!!!!........i will have a go at mine ....i dont like modern soul with elecctronic drum machine or computer ,non physically human produded noise. ok Right then here goes, The way I see it is most music is electronic apart from percussion, horns & some strings. Guessing you like your 60's RnB & if so what would it sound like without the main 3 instruments, the electric guitar, the bass guitar & the now legendary Hammond organ? All electronic Then we get to the vocals, whats that in the singers hand? A microphone. They'd sound pretty silly if it wasn't plugged in & ran through a mixing system & an amplifier to enhance the sound I'm sure you'll agree. The only reason there were no synths & computer generated music on 60's tracks is simply because the technology was not around but you can bet your bottom dollar if it was it would have been used 99% of the time. Might I suggest you have a listen to Stevie Wonders albums Songs In The Key Of Life & The Secret Life Of Plants & you might see where I'm coming from. Off to do a bit of climbing with Ingrid now
April 23, 200916 yr modern R&B nowt more than DIET SUGARY PAP.......has no place calling itself r&b,soul of anything else.
April 23, 200916 yr ??? Ezzie knows what I mean Refers to some silly comment I made on my profile when I first joined & never got round to changing.

Off to do a bit of climbing with Ingrid now Am the first to admit to being a luddite, but think amplification of sound and electromechanical instruments such as a Hammond organ or electric guitar is a little different to creating muic via electronic means such as a synthesizer which imitates a Hammond or piano... can sound a bit souless to some ears. Its modern technology and general lack of gospel plus the usual gold chains, bitches and swimming pools, crap lyrics that I cant stand with modern RnB
April 24, 200916 yr The Modern Term R&b, What does it mean? If I remember correctly, hip-hop group De La Soul referred to it as "RAP & BULLSHIT"!
April 24, 200916 yr the only organic piece of musical instrument is the human voice and even that can have a wide range of variety depending on the breath. soul as we know it has an abundance of people who have mastered the technique on how to express human emotion.R and B rythmn and blues a good bit of marketing at the time as how to best describe what mainly singers and rythmn players were trying to express
April 24, 200916 yr Author Ezzie knows what I mean Refers to some silly comment I made on my profile when I first joined & never got round to changing. Ok My girlfriends name is Ingrid and we do rock climbing
