  1. Sorted now Thanks to all John
  2. Obviously the plain red boot sticking a photocopied label on has just added £275 to the price
  3. Yep, me too, MVP Most Valuable Player , an American football term... so some similarity there then.
  4. What's that worth?
  5. Wanted Channel 3 Sweetest Thing demo or issue (some hope) vg+or above if the price is right. Many Thanks
  6. Better put the pressing plant on standby looks like there could be a run on this title LOL I wasn't aware that the album cuts were any different (although my mates got an original copy and I'm sure he's told me before.....sorry Kev) the album cuts seem a bit rushed and Darrell has trouble getting the lyrics out perhaps it was the chore of re-recording what was a big seller at the time. In answer to the question was the Atlantic recording in stereo and therefore a better option for re-recording, or was it contractual, or is it a clever marketing ploy (planting Easter eggs) I've got to admit to liking the idea of framing it maybe this is the answer to what to do with all the latest 'superior' boots that can only be given away
  7. Bit early to be using the 'crossover' tag ? lol
  8. Take a look on e bay,two distinct cover art 3 images on the cd cover and the new one (available from German sellers @ 18 odd quid) with a single photo.
  9. One styrene the other vinyl?different pressing plants?
  10. Colin is well and truly off the scene now pursuing a career as a biographer,(Malcolm Lowry a local writer) I like Eddie traded tapes and later cds with him visiting him on many occasions along with Kev Horsewood (stateside), never heard the Sandra Wright tracks, ( the up tempo ones which he knew I'd prefer) so I'd say he never had it, even if he had and passed it on he would have kept it on one of the hi-quality chrome cassettes that he always used. Colin was not adverse to letting things go if the price was right. BTW there are two different album covers the new one with a single image and the one that Kev posted earlier (for the cd but I guess the vinyl Denon release is the same) Kev the new release has the I'll be your shelter titled correctly.
  11. That's LP only " Chuck Jackson Arrives" on Motown
  12. Jerry Washington on Glades came out of a soulpack I got from Soul Bowl back in the seventies, seen it go for £900 in the past as Ian (D) says hindsight is a wonderful thing, I found time to listen to the podcast that features some of the soul pack tunes and made a list of the ones I liked, found most of them on Discogs for £3.00- £5.00, a lot I had already got mostly in that modern/crossover vein. (the sellers could be recipients of one of Ian's packs) . So I'll pick up those items from Discogs sellers in the next few months beats paying £1000. Collection building by buying 1000's of records at a time ? surely the measure of a good collection is quality not quantity, I know what I'd rather spend a grand on. The boots, superior bootlegs of unobtainable stuff and mega rare items given to the select few dealers and DJ's for free ! I can see how this would annoy anyone whose not in the circle, could it be that this is the purpose.
  13. Did that shit looking 70s boot make a cameo appearance in the film then? Looks like one of those very flat Finish pressings with a stick on label, if this is the standard then I don't think anyone should be too worried.
  14. Do you have a real one to compare it to?
  15. Colin lent Lou Ragland's The Conveyer to the guys at Soul Brother, to dub, with Lou's blessing apparently (having bought his copy from Lou personally) don't know about Sandra Wrights album though only Colin could answer that.
  16. Have some royalty's gone to the wrong people, Midwest Franchise is a fab tune BTW
  17. Love the Spinners original I'll Be Around, and was preparing to splash out on the Doug Parkinson version, when I noticed that whilst the Spinners version is credited to Tom Bell and Phil Hurtt as writers the Aussie version is credited to Chuck Jackson & Marvin Yancy, Doug's version was top 40 in Australia so is there some contractural reason? or just a huge mistake?
  18. Perhaps the most simple reason for the two different pressings is that the original mistake 1,2,3,3, was corrected on the 2nd issue.
  19. "SOUL MEETING " RAY CHARLES MILT JACKSON recorded in 1957 not released until 1961 inc the track Hallelujah I love her so
  20. The UK version is longer than the ATCO , running to 4:25 although its stated 3:13 on the label, I think this is the "Tom Moulton Mix" that appeared on the Disco Trek album.
  21. About 40 years ago when I first started work one of the HGV drivers always wore a red bobble hat over what appeared to be a fine head of auburn hair, one day whilst retrieving something from under the wagon his hat caught and was knocked off revealing a clean bald head underneath, it seems the hair was sewn in around the edge of the hat, now thats what I'd call a "Wighat"
  22. A record that benefits from being played loud over a big system (as do most)
  23. £25 waiting here for it , most I've seen are £30 to £40.
  24. Did this get released in any shape or form?
