If someone gave this to me to play (as i certainly would not pay for one) i would have to cover it up.....................................................................................................With a ton of hardcore and quick set concrete, yea i think that would do it
  2. Well i never, This must be as ellusive as the Instrumental of the Fuller Bothers "Times a'wasting" that somebody claimed to have heard played out looking foreward to hearing this, well done Ady
  3. Used to love this place, some fabulous memories, great people, great tunes and a great dance floor, 'Thanks for the Memories' chaps.................Rick PS Terry Sampson used to live in my kneck of the woods and he also ran Northern Nites at the Side Saddle near Doncaster and at the Viking Hotel in Goole.
  4. THINKING OF YOU - THE COBRA HEART BAND CAN I CHANGE MY MIND - WILLIE CLAYTON AFTER ALL - SAM DEES STOP TO THINK IT OVER - GODS GIFT TO WOMEN PASS THE KLEENEX................ SOB
  5. Hi Ian, Hope you are well, i had a feeling you would be a "Pickers" Fan as me like you love looking through "other peoples junk" our treasure, never sadly made it to the States, Rick
  6. Anyone been following this show on the Dave Channel (the last new episodes just finnished) although lots of repeats. Old guy on there been collecting stuff from front yard and garage sales for over 30 years and nobody had been through the stuff untill the Pickers knocked on his door, he had thousand upon thosands of albums and 7" singles all neatly stacked in one part of the many barnes full of collectables which made my eys pop, the pickers took a quick look and said naa don't know anything about records and continued to look round all his out buildings, not sure whether they were in Miami at the time, spoted an Imperial 7 " single on top of one pile of singles, oh just to be there eh?...Rick
  7. Hi Michael, Yes it did get plays back in the day (at least i used to spin it) was a big Sly and Family Stone fan and still love a lot of their stuff, some is a bit too funky for some, rememember droping this in an oldies set ( was at Cleethorpes Pier All Niter or maybe the Winter Gardens) my memories not so good these day and had to laugh when Soul Sam came dashing up to the decks (he was a bit more agile in those days) and asked "what's this?" as the French Fries - Dance Ala Music was a massive spin for him at the time.....Happy Days!!!
  8. Copper and Brass was a big spin for me at the Cleethorpes Pier All Niters and a dance floor favourite, always thought this was the best version and there are 3 or 4, still spin it in my oldies sets and sits nicely with Spiral Staircase More today Than Yesterday i think.
  9. Boght this as a new release from Juno, always thought the female vocalist was well off key
  10. Thanks for all your help guys, brilliant as usual,Pete what format is the isleys inst on please?
  11. Thanks for those kind words Sean, and the help on the stanky Record, Have the single and always wondered which side year wise it lent on, sounds late 60s but with that raw funky edge, not everyones cup of tea i know but i like it. The Isley brothers is a difficult one as not credited as an instrumental so will be trial and error with that one, (unless someone on here has or has had one) Hope to catch up with you one day real soon Sean, always had the utmost respect for you too, Good luck and health in 2015 Rick
  12. 1) Can anyone give me the release date on Billy Davis - 'Stanky (get funky) Gets towted as a 70s funk record, if it is 70s it is very early, if not very late 60s? 2) back in the 90s a guy from Scunthorpe called Mick Arrani (think i spelt his last name correct) nick named spotty dog because of the way he danced played a track off an Isley Bros. Greatest hits album, the track in question "This old heart of mine" which was supposed to be a vocal version but turned out to be the instumental backing track. Anyone have any info on this album or even had one?, don't know if it was U. S. copy or Euro copy OR UK, never see him these days to ask him, hope someone on here can helpme with these, Rick
  13. Hi, Great blast from the past, i played this as a brand new release in 1973 at the "Friendship Inn" in Keadby which we ran on a 3 nightly bassis every w/end Fri, Sat, Sun for a number of years Jack "Tommo" Thompson who is a member on here will verify that as he used to go there, went on to be a big spin for me at the Cleethorpes Pier too, Used to order all my records at that time from Ashtons Record Stall on Scunny Market every w/end as she used to have a chart sheet which included all the weeks new releases so any label that looked soul related i used to order whether i knew them or not so got all my early Mowest including things like The Night F.Vali the new Invictus, Hotwax releases etc. and went on to get my imports from Lynn Discory (Soul Bowl early days) and J Kings in Leicester etc. Good Days indeed
  14. Now Then Steve, thanks for the info, doesn't realy matter which one was first issue just the simplicity and quality of the record and so cheap, was just curious thats all, and so surprised at how unknown it is and yes Thorne, Those were the days eh?, when i spin it it puts me in mind of "just can't speak" probably the backing more tha vocaly, hope a few more people become a fan of this track and buys a copy as always good to pick up a good tune without parting with lots of cash....Rick
  15. Don't mind at all as there may be a few people out there missed it and you are correct it is sounds awesome on a big system with plenty of base, Rick
  16. Hi Pete yes thanks for that known Sean well over the years and miss his spots when i used to go to Yarmuff w/enders didn'nt know he was behind that track and as you say a great track, thanks for the info ... Rick
  17. Don't know if this has ever been discused on here before apologies if it has but if you are not familiar with this practice record used to put a "Secret Track" on a CD for you to find for yourself without telling you it was there. They were found after the last track played say track 15 would fade and time numbers would continue and anywhere up to a minute or so later a track would kick in. I will kick things off with the CD Chris Hill's "New School Caister Soul Anthems" that Expansion put out in 2005 let track 15 play to the end and leave running and the unlisted track "Thank You" kicks in which samples the Detroit Spinners intro riff from "I'll Be Around" So what "secret/hidden tracks have you found (providing you buy CDs) I believe this practice started as a sales drive in the early days of the CD. Please feel free to discuss/share...Rick
  18. Morning all, recently bought one of these on 7" for a friend of mine for his Birthday as he liked it when i played it to him as it one he was not familiar with, the question is both mine and the one i gave him are blue and white labels, and looking on Musick Stack there are a few (not many) for sale and the label on one of them is pink! Now when you go to youtube to play the copy up loaded on there info on track said it was not profesionaly made available and only he (the artist) and friends had original copies, so if that is the case why 2 different colour labels as this would lead me to think a lot of these were pressed? so which was first ? by the way if you don't know the track go to youtube and have a listen or maybe someone could put a link to it on here as its a fabulous record and very cheap too ( for now ) sounds like it should be a big money job, well i think so Rick
  19. Soul Source every time - Don't do Face Book, This is the place for all you would want to know about Soul Music as most people on here very knowlegable.
