The whole society is bloody brain washed by accepting not the real deal anymore but a cheap frigging old hat made in frigging Tabalula. Bloody hell, I am sure I can sell some of you a new Land Rover made in China but although you have lost your job a few years ago at the Land Rover manufacturing plant you still think greeeeeeeeeeeeeat what a wonderful British Car!!!!!!!!!!!! After that we watch a virtual boxing fight controlled by Mohammed Ali's & George Forman's individual brains !!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh fantastic what a great fight... like in the old days!!! Did Colin not once complain about toooo many bootlegs and pressings at the start of the wigan casino ??? -
That's not the point I was trying to make.. If Colin would have played some tunes at a modern soul event, which unfortunately have only been issued on CD's is fine with me as I am not really part of that circle and not up to date with the current modern 2 step scene.... but all those big dj names coping out at a soul nighter with a few cd's any Dick & Tom could have shuffled together is just taking the mickey !!

Within the next few years the UK soul scene will be diluted almost completely and many events will be just like any disco you were escaping from when you were getting into northern soul in the first place. The punters who do not care about proper dj's with the imagination to set a dance floor on fire with original vinyl and promoters who do not care about tight door policies, dance floor etiquettes, the right venue, original vinyl and so on will surely put a few more nails in the coffin. I hope the few remaining people who do care with hopefully a few younger kids coming through will keep the faith and resurrect a once pretty cool scene with attitude once again from the graves of ignorance & commerce !!!

Maybe ovo + membership and or a tight door + dance floor policy is the way forward????!!! Also, choosing the right venue may have an impact as well !!

Well, for many it is rather like going to an art gallery and wanting to see the real deal rather then a copy of the original art work, or watching footy preferalby in the stadion, having a german car made in germany, buying traditional english products made in england, seeing the original line up of ones favourite band rather than a cover band in a pub.... They may sound exactly the same but.....it's not the real deal... oh and yes it is pretty much tradition of the the soul scene since day one!! But each to their own !!

ok this time I promise not to be naughty again with the sticky tape.... It's known by some collectors but it gets very little dance floor action in the UK !!! Propper obscure mid tempo gem which is very seldom played out but once you hear it a few times it really grows on ya !!!! C'mon guys there are many more tunes to be added!!! Well I have to say the last time I heard Butch play 3 full sets at Hip City it was just fantastic !!! Many top 60's /70's unknowns of the highest quality !!!! He pretty much gets a free hand which is great but at the same time knows when something is a bit too leftfield to come back with more tradional sounding gems !!! I am sure many of those tracks were also not known by Ian and co
:D The one on Capitol is a little slower but Robinhood are actually The George Semper Rhythm Committee rebranded as Robinhood for this lone Capitol single, and is almost a note-for-note re-recording of the same song Semper produced for Hy Mizrahi's Rama (as is my reply check out youtube !!! ..... But I prefer the original first version !!!!!!
One which never turns up on any playlists and is pretty much off the radar but sounds great played out and always gets a good reception!!! Also, very very cheap .....

Jesus, they same old arguments over the last god knows years!!!! Rare Soul is Northern Soul and vise versa and always has been!! Oldies v Newies.. too funky too modern too much media too much of this or that has always been around since ....With many people in the world I have nothing in common with but I still call myself a human being !!!! Within the Northern Soul scene there are bits and bobs not to my liking but overall the people, the music, the dancing, the passion, the friendliness, the sillyness, the crazy collecting side the constant arguments make it a great place to be!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...If there is one word to describe that whole wonderful malarkey it is Northern Soul !!!
I enjoyed the programm and PW together with all the other participants did quite well in presenting it. Alltough many tracks may not be my current number ones I danced to most of them and they have their place in northern soul history. What I do miss when people generally make a programm about northern soul in Britain is the fact that it is now a world wide scene .... not just in Europe....even in....... Manila ;)

I just watched it and they did pretty good in my opinion !! After all a small feature on the new film with only a little time but well presented. I have to say PW and Ellaine came accross quite well and in comparrison to Paul o'grady it's miles appart on the cheesy scale !!!! Maybe because i got more or less all my pearly whites with a shade of grey still in place, I found the joke quite funny. Well done !!!!

Maybe on a smaller scale but in Hamburg alone I think we have 8-10 ladies playing soul in pubs regulary !!! Once or twice a year they have a ladies dj only event as well !!! Also, Thorsten mentioned some female customers which are not very active within the soul scene but still collect!!!!
