I thought about getting some done to be honest. The main reason relates to the higher audio level you can get with the wider grooves of a 45 compared to a narrow grooved lp track. The wider the grooves, the louder the record which is why 12" singles sound so good. Now the reason I nearly got some done was because some of the equipment that you have to use when DJing is very poor and doesn't have the necessary b*llocks in the amp power, so when you turn up your narrow grooved lp track to give it the necessary volume boost to match the level of the previous 45 you've played, you get an almighty howl or hum of feedback coming from the speakers. So you then have to start dipping the bass down and messing around to try and get the thing to stop feeding back. If you've got a good sound system with a good powerful amp this won't happen as there's always some juice in the amp to cope with turning it up for your lp tracks. Jordi

  3. A Dave Welding tune for me back in the late 90's. Jaw dropping tune with an equally fantastic slowie on the flip.

  10. Who was playing King Sporty? I would have thought that was far too slow to be danced to in the 100mph past.

    4 to 5 hundred?
  12. Ha Ha! There ought to be a 'smacked arse' smiley thingy.

Definitely. You get more of that fantastic rhythm guitar near the end that really elevates the track.
  14. Wow!! I knew this was a tricky one but that's a helluva price.
  15. Nice drum sound.

Mickey, that used to be my copy which I had off Cobbles (Frank) on here some years ago. I couldn't ever find any info about it anywhere. The flip is quite good I seem to remember as well.
  17. Now that's the Mystic Meg question we would all love to know Russ. If only I had a time machine. It's impossible to predict when things like Mighty Lovers - 'Ain't gonna run no more' start going for massive bucks when it was always a £25 tune and it's not even what you would call an out and out dancer, then you get tunes like Ray Hines and Jacqueline Jones going for £200 a piece after years of staying rigidly at a certain price (£75 for J.Jones, much cheaper for Ray Hines). I suppose it depends who gets behind the tunes and how many people get to hear them played out.

He comes across as a really nice guy. The whole film made me smile, right down to seeing the huge pile of cut pieces of cardboard for his mailers.
  19. I've got both of those Dave, but I'd have to dig 'em out to check flip sides.

There was a red boot, but also a red label which wasn't a boot, this had the 'Beach' side as a slower crossover/mid tempo northern paced version. The red boot as you say had a fast version of beach. I never really liked any version of 'Beach', I found the lyrics a bit sickly/cheesy. There is a thread from a few years ago which explains the differences between the labels.
  21. 'How do you say goodbye' is one of my all time favourite slowies. An old soul pack 45 from the 70's.
  22. Lovely tune, whatever label. Are you sure about the Delite being the 1st press? Fos-Glo is always a lot dearer.
