  1. Anderson soul pack record that I let go for a soul pack price years ago.
  2. I think they'd all walked one at a time through Jimmy Savile's dressing room first.
  3. Yes, that's exactly it. I was going to say it looked like some random magazine picture stuck on as a label.
  4. It's definitely a Jamaican nice vinyl press. I bought a few reggae things from a guy that had 700+ Jamaican bits up on Ebay and this was also one I had. These all came from a DJ's collection I think as a lot of them had 'Siddys' written in marker pen on them. Actually, this is not blank as such, it has some vague odd imagery on it but no text whatsoever on either side
  5. Doh! just realised the link is in your post Steve. I'll take a listen now.
  6. Ha Ha!!, I always listen to your mixes Steve, I must have missed this one. Is it on here with the usual tracklisting and link? Jordi
  7. Sold mine a couple of years back. Great record. I would reckon £500 - £600 for a nice copy. It always used to be very expensive but it might have come down somewhat. Jordi
  8. Absolutely Flanny. I bought an unknown Jamaican blank a few months back after hearing a few bars on a soundclip. It's bloody gorgeous, the guitar work and strings, in fact the whole production is simply sublime, but I didn't know who it was and it was bugging me. When Charlie put in his request for this I thought I don't know it, I wonder with a title like that if it could be my Jamaican blank. Guess what? it sure was. So thanks Charlie for accidently putting me out of my mysery!! Jordi
  9. I think £500-£600 is about right Vince. I used to have it but unfortunately the gorgeous crossover side was trashed for the first 30 seconds, but I sold it for the flip to a funk collector..
  10. This is an awesome record, I played it the other night at home and it really came back to me just how good it is. Certainly not one for the northern boys, but what killer funky stepper.
  11. Ha, the link's working now. Yep, I prefer the 7", but this 12" would sound amazing on a fully beefed up sound system.
  12. Cunnie, I've waited a long time to hear the 12" version of King Tutt, imagine my f@ckin' disappointment when I clicked on the link, to be told the video wasn't available to view. What's going on!?
  13. I know what you mean Matt, the term was a bad one and unfortunately it was picked up and has been run with for 30+ years. I think it's totally inappropriate as a term. It is just a term though, and whatever you call any music from the 70's up to current releases today, certain people will hate it all if it hasn't got that 60's production sound to it. That's their loss as far as I'm concerned, not that I am concerned in the slightest.
  14. No need to be pedantic about the word 'modern' is there? Surely we all know that Nick was referring to what is generally accepted as the birth of what (rightly or wrongly) is called 'modern soul', ie 70's music. Obviously at any stage in history whatever is current at that time is modern.
  15. Nice picture of Scarborough south beach on that video clip.
  16. Yeah, and it also freed you up from the shackles of scene loyalty, y'know, you're either modern or 60's. I could never get my head round that ridiculous self imposed restriction on what I should or should not listen to. Curtis, Janice, keys to the City, velvet hammer, King tutt, Montclairs, Carstairs, flippin' heck, they all sound just as good now.
  17. For me I think it was always there before I knew of a scene for it. I used to love hearing tunes in various nightclubs that I used to go to in Bridlington and scarborough in the late 70's, stuff like Jackie Moore-this time baby, Philly Int All stars - Lets clean up the Ghetto, Instant Funk - Crying, Phylis Hymen, a load of the soulful disco stuff championed by Robbie Vincent on the radio. All this kind of went hand in hand with the stuff I was hearing on the northern scene such as Innersection, Creative source, Bobby Taylor 'Roses somewhere' etc, etc and stuff at wigan such as Kenny Burke 'Let somebody love you'. It always made so much sense to me to be played in the same room as Johnny Sayles and Lorraine chandler and I've never had a problem listening to any good music of any era.
  18. Down right crooked. No mention of the fact it's a boot, denies that soul records are his area of expertise yet his ebay shop is full of 'em.
  19. I haven't seen a copy of the Rhythm Machine 45 for ages. It used to be the LP that was the grail, but I've seen far more of those than the 45. Jordi
  20. Are these anything to do with Peter and the Wolfs, also on Bridge Society. They sound very similar and the horns sounds very similar also. Just wondered if there was some crossover in musicians with the studio and bands? Jordi
  21. Robbie Vincent, late 70's, listening on my mum's transistor radio on a Friday night in the kitchen with a couple of mates round. Set me on the journey to listen to stuff other than just 60's Wigan northern. Jordi
