  1. Yeah I know what you mean. Generally I like seeing playlists, not just from venues in Britain but also from around the world. I like to see what our continental soul brothers and sisters rate as tunes to play out. I think the only problem with playlists is that you can't tell how the set was played. What I mean is that someone may play a decent enough set of tunes but might inject excitement and be skillful in how they bring tracks on, and that will make for a good night for punters. Or you may get a cracking set of upfront, new discoveries, underplayed oldies, everything you may want from a set (fill in your own taste here) yet the person spinning the discs is useless on the mic, leaves gaps between records, cues badly and generates no excitement or atmosphere whatsoever. I know what kind of night I would rather be at. But having said all of that I do like to see what kind of stuff is getting played. Playlists do look good or bad on "paper" but they don't indicate the atmosphere of the night, and that is a main reason for people travelling to venues. Jordi

Got to be the mighty "RATED X". Uptempo, brassy, psychedelic brilliance. Does anyone know if this was a 45 'cos I would love a copy. Jordi

The flip to Precious Moments was an awful disco version of Hey Girl dont bother me.... Jordi
  4. Saw about 3-4 copies of this for sale on Sat. night at Junction 11. No help I know!! Jordi
  5. Steve, Jason Brew has posted up the red label version a few posts back. Can you post up a soundfile of the earlier purple version? I'd like to hear it. Jordi

Yeah me too Chunk. I've played this out on a few occasions. Jordi
  7. Mine's a 70's version on NYCS (New York City Sounds). Red label, styrene. Jordi
  8. Yes it was a bummer when I found out after I had bought mine. The difference is the yellow label mix is full on all the way through with drums nice and high in the mix, the yellow and red label is exactly the same recording but the drums and backing vocals come in later after a slightly more acoustic / stripped down intro. Both are great, but one is greater than the other. Jordi
  9. Hi Steve, No I haven't played "Along the beach", it's a bit cheesy, but I do play "Sweet hot lips", it always goes down well. Value wise it's hard to say. The 12" which is longer and has an extended guitar break probably would be about £100 - £150. the 7" is definately harder and is probably more like £300. There is also a very rare LP, which I was told was about £400. Jordi
  10. Good old radio 2 (Ken Bruce ) played this the other morning and announced it as Terry Collier, then proceeded to make a joke about the likely lads. Oh dear! Memories of Jocky Wilson came flooding back. Jordi

"Dance right into my heart". Great Archie Bell - Tighten Up style rhythm. Cool tune! Jordi
  12. Never seen it before Gareth. It made me laugh tho' as Rah tid is a Jamaican swear word. Looks nicer than the Micron one as well. Jordi
  13. The main track came out as a 45 on UK Expansion records a few years back. Jordi
  14. Ha Ha!! . Pete did you get bitten on the arse by a 70's soul record when you were young? So much hatred. I'm a bit like that with wasps. Jordi
  15. Cheers for the info tomo, it's funny how so much of the Florida stuff comes back round to Betty Wright and husband King Sporty. I love the whole feel of it, sunshine grooves with proper soul. You can hear the fusion of the Reggae from just over the water, and the soul in a lot of the music. King Sporty did a lot of reggae stuff and soul/disco stuff, Frankie Zhivago Young, Chosen Few etc, all helped to create a great Florida soul sound. Jordi
  16. I love this version and was lucky enough to get mine cheap off ebay some years back. One of my Florida faves is on the Dash label: Leno Phillips - Confusion. Awesome mid tempo with that all important Florida guitar work grooving it along. Anybody anything about Leno? Jordi
  17. About £70 - £100 should be about right. It does sell for £100 on some lists. Jordi
  18. Nice one Kev, it's nice and laid back but I can't even recognise it as the same tune as Carla's. Jordi
  19. How ya doin' Kev? I've never seen that Choker Campbell record, is it the same as Carla's. Any chance of a sound clip if it's different. Jordi
  20. Have a good 'un tonight Steve, unfortunately I can't make it. Jordi

Get him lined up for the next Big Brother show. Jordi
  22. Steve, This is the one I'm on about. (Making of Love). I don't know the other one unless it's the flip, trouble is that it's buried somewhere in a box and I haven't had time to search it out to check. As Gash sez, it's a cracker. Starts off just this side of schmaltzy mid tempo disco, but picks up to be a bit of a killer with pained, heartfelt vocals. should be a big tune in the modern / crossover / 70's places. Jordi
  23. Hi steve, I've got a scan and a review to email you, but I can't do soundfiles. If you want I can dig it out and play it down the phone to you. Jordi
  24. Sam used to have one in his sales box for £150 a couple of years back. Cracking tune, and got to be as rare as hell. Jordi
