  1. That's very magnanimous of you Darren. There will however be a lot of folk a bit miffed if they've paid £15 for a ticket and they aren't one of the 'lucky' 1500 who get to see the main man in the flesh so to speak.
  2. Are you one of the promoters then? Sure as hell looks like it. You are the only person answering anyone's questions Oh... and are you saying that once you've sold your 1500 tickets that's it?
  3. Are the tickets for those who aren't interested in seeing the live act going to be cheaper then? Like you have so rightly said. Not everyone likes/wants to see live artists. Maybe if you have a two tier pricing system a: you might sell more tickets b: you might avoid a riot if you end up selling more tickets than the amount of people who can actually see the live act 'live'. I know if I had forked out £15 for a ticket, only to find out on the day that I couldn't actually get in to see the live act, I would be mighty pissed off. And no amount of TV screens in the other rooms would make up for that fact. Not if I had paid the same amount as those people in the main room.
  4. I have two out of the three... Clarence Jackson and Andre Williams. Always wanted a copy of the Fabulous Apollos, as this was always my favourite. Still want one, but like I said before, Clarence has recently pipped the Fab lads to take number one spot for me!
  5. Trying to find a date that didn't clash and upset anybody just about killed me Andy. And that's the truth Promoting is definitely not for me!
  6. I have to say I couldn't do it. My one and only brush with promoting was probably the most stressful thing I have ever done. And that was a one-off event that was free to get in! You have to be ruthless to the point of being vicious and I just don't have that in me I'm afraid. Saying that, I am so glad so many people are suited to it. Long live promoters!
  7. Are you only allowed to comment if you've bought a ticket then? Maybe some people might not have the money to buy tickets in advance. You are allowed to pay on the day aren't you?
  8. Me too. I think it's great. I have always loved the Fabulous Apollos, but lately have started to love Clarence Jackson more. Great tune
  9. Oh.. but Jane loves the Stunners! Anyway, that's at least three collections on offer by my reckoning. Anyone had any offers?
  10. That's everything except the Stunners. Ian wouldn't dare!
  11. How did the Falcons take being told they weren't wanted this close to the event?
  12. No wonder you're pissed off with it all Mark... you need to get out more

  14. Thought it was for a friend?
  15. He also got Phil Kowalski's copy quite recently too (Phil paid £400 for it off Ebay ) Swapped it for the Camero's I think? Will always be an Ion and Cliff Steel tune for me. Awesome.
  16. Absolutely! On both counts! Thanks for sharing Liam
  17. I actually did a piece of work on this for my degree. The 45 rpm speed was the only one to be decided by a precise optimization procedure (by RCA Victor in 1948). Calculus was used to show that the optimum use of a disc record of constant rotational speed occurs when the innermost recorded diameter is half the outermost recorded diameter. That's why a 7-inch single has a label 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Given the CBS vinyl groove dimensions and certain assumptions about the bandwidth and tolerable distortion, a speed of 45 rpm comes out of the formula. PETER COPELAND British Library National Sound Archive London Everybody get that?
  18. You shouldn't have said anything Ady... they'll be merged now
  19. The best part of the Gt. Yarmouth weekenders. Bonkers!
  20. Absolutely fantastic record. In fact, it was the only one of Steve's tunes I really wanted. I know a lad from Preston, Billy Kinder, used to have one. That was where I first heard it. Must be 15 years ago now. He sold his collection to Steve Plumb. Who in turn sold a load to Soul Sam I think. Neither one can recall this record though? But he definitely had one.
