MIDAS TOUCH RECORDS LIST #12
yes, but not that well known, Henry Atkinson has one as well and he's had it for a while, quite hard to get.
-
Just a question
is this not the Cd that has all the tracks redone on a synth ? really bad , but if you look at the notes it says something like re-done but it is misleading, sure KRL had something to do with it as well

Playing re-releases / re- issues at gigs?
good luck but it takes a long time to understand this music, nearly 30 years for me and still learning, one last thing, its your money so buy what you like, not what you think you should buy !!! after that part of the fun is finding records ,playing them if you think they are good and asking people if they know them,an awful lot are well known but its great when people ask you what it is, remmebr no-one knows it all and what is well known to some is unknown to others.

Ian Levine article in Record Collector
not trying to say there was 25,000 over here but ''maybe'' that many or more were pressed,if neil had a 1,000, others must have got their hands on a few from the states over the years so cant be that rare.IMO....

MADNESS!!!!!!! MADNESS
all good , valid and correct points, just so you know, the record I was looking for had wanted it for a year or so which isnt that long really as have waited a lot longer for some stuff.just that the quality on sale this year was not that good IMO ( or to my liking ) and I could have paid a little more than the price easily enough from a dealer 2 months earlier ......but my record slush fund was burning a hole in my pocket so I thought why not as if I wait another year who knows , anyway that and my general demeanour on the afternoon might have contributed to a lack of common sense, mind you we have all paid too much at one time or another, then again we have all waited and wished we hadnt,...buying records and common sense dont really go together, I have made an awful lot of better buys than bad ones so still ahead of the game............mind you anybody that sells me a record and takes advantage of my condition at the time only does it once...I will have my day with him.

MADNESS!!!!!!! MADNESS
oops...just noticed it was a few years ago so couldnt have been Clee... bet it was the same ''long'' streak of **** though
-
MADNESS!!!!!!! MADNESS
let me try and explain this.....was it Cleethorpes ? and was the fair deal guy opposite the rip off but about 10 feet further up ? cos I bought a record off rip off ( should have known better really as i know what he is like ) which I wanted and was slightly overpriced but I wanted it,anyway the seller then has this...sort of smug, another sucker look on his face and I nearly went back to ask for my money back just to wind him up. I then went to the fair guy and spent twice as much with him, just so the rip off could see ( satday afternoon early on so he could see my cash changing hands ) if not Cleethorpes then ignore my warbling....no names

MADNESS!!!!!!! MADNESS
Ian I forgot to mention, its Duncans 50th in october and a do is on at Blackfriars in Shieldfield if you fancy a trip back home, guest is George Hunt and a couple of Duncs mates from Nottingham plus some local lads, me and Duncan are not jocking just getting hammered on the door that night, the whitley bay lads should be there, certainly Ted White,Peebles,Johnny Brunton,Johnny Quinn,Dave Miller and a few others,if you want more info send me a PM on here or an e-mail to my home. for any watchers who dont know ''our Duncan'' he is the daft Geordie who made everybodies ( especially Minshulls ) life a misery at the Mecca and the casino....happy days and SO MUCH FUN. !!

Soul Searcher Records Latest list
I know about the year, no wonder it was a flop in 75/76 as it has the sound of 69-70...... you know a man who has some ? how big a some ??? tell you what Mick I'll hammer it up north, you hammer it where you go, Andy F will hammer it and when it hits £250 which is not unreasonable for a quality record like this..........compared to what some crap costs these days......... you can sell all those copies and make a killing...............NO....record dealers would never take advantage of soul fans like that would they ? ( smile )

MADNESS!!!!!!! MADNESS

Ian Levine article in Record Collector
there were literally hundreds around in 76/77 so £ 50 is probably fair, then again its who wants to sell it,I gave mine away in 77 as it was not hard to get another one. can anybody not find the printing records from these plants for susposedly rare records then it will be a little clearer, like anything that is made in a plant, what was the print run ? if the susposed minimum a small plant would do for a bog standard plain label from kids off the street with a 100 dollars was 300 or 500 copies, what about a bona fide record label that went to the trouble of getting artwork done ,distribution rights, promotional people ,payola, etc etc, I would guess 20,000 or 25,000 copies would not be far from the mark minimum so not rare AT ALL and not worth the money ( on Sassy ). Ok you here stories about sale or return to the music stores and they went back to the distributors who threw them out as they couldnt find room to store them, all good stories but not applicable to everything, a big place the states. think about it logically...................then again, collecting soul records and paying silly money......wheres the logic in that ?????

frank wilson
rumours rumours but I heard from a very knowledgable bloke that these were given out at a USA motown convention.......anybody else heard this ? also that given the size of the USA and the number of avid collectors that there should be/is/probably about a dozen or 15 in the hands of ''anoraks'' in the USA who are not remotely interested in who knows what records they have got and are not remotely interested in this soul thing of ours........hard to believe, maybe, but not impossible to think ?

Some 45´s for sale
you still see them for 80-100 even though some dealers say they are drying up now, well they would wouldnt they..... I got mine ( stone mint ) at the Wilton in january for 50, even though a well known dealer had one for 100 only 20 feet away so 65 for the condition stated is not that great a deal, I reckon you can still get M- ones for 60-80 so look around.

Soul Searcher Records Latest list
if anybody doesnt know the Robert Tenard on Keiths list......JUST BUY IT BLIND, cant say anymore than that.......stonking record that you dont see much
-
wanted
anybody got a spare copy to move of Bessie Banks, dont you worry baby ? demo or issue not bothered,
-
Contential Four V Oscar Weathers ?
dont know about Brenda and the tabs being that cheap.....but I wouldnt sell my demo as it really is top notch. also, in 5 years time you watch all these crossover £10 records will be worth silly money as people FINALLY realise that this music is the way forward. I love 6ts northern but crossover is the way forward..............and definately not 7ts disco crap. just my opinion of course.............
