  1. This will be the next Joe Simon record that I get. I recently purchased The Girls Alright With Me and before that I Got A Whole Lot Of Lovin' both by Joe Simon. The Girls cost me the princely sum of $10 including postage from USA .

If anyone else is after a copy there's one on Ebay at the moment. >> ebay #360109577381 <<
  3. Ooh, just been looking on John Manships site with regards to this record. One thing that always puzzled me was that I always seem to see copies with "Tomorrows Hits Today" on the label. My problem was that I bought a copy from Shane a few years back for the princely sum of £15 and it didn't have that text on it. However I have just discovered this on Johns Manship site "RAMHORN B.M.I music left hand side. Plain sky blue label with NO tomorrow's hits today text - slogan under the logo. Perhaps it's rarest format." So thank you, Mr Higgins.
  4. I'm sure the Mica version is different to the Jerhart version, as for the other two I can't comment. All I can say is that it went down well when I played it last night.

Not in my opinion, just someone living their life how they want to.
  6. I think SOSO can vary from region to region. Some tracks are played repeatedly at some venues, but then this maybe seldom heard in other areas (as some of the posts on here show). The tracks that I interpret as the SOSO when reading lookbacks are stuff that I used to hear on Scooter Runs 20 yrs ago. For example tracks like the following: 1. Moses Smith - Girl Across The Street 2. Billy Butler - Right Track 3. Frank Wilson - Do I Love You 4. Dobie Gray - Out On The Floor However, when was the last time that you actually heard any of them played out? The problem stems I believe from the fact that these were probably some of the first tracks you heard, not forgetting that the first CD compilations that were freely available featured tracks like these on a number of them. Therefore I think it's just a case of familiarity breeds contempt. More recent SOSO amongst aothers I would say: 1. Dee Dee Sharpe - Deep Dark Secret 2. Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - Ain't No Mountain 3. Chris Clark - Somethings Wrong These are more normally to do with being unreleased except on CD, or a name DJ spins it. If only on CD, I expect you'd find a bootleg on sale within a week of the CD being released. So Buyers think they can play the latest unknown or previously unreleased track before anyone else. All that happens is that everyone bloody plays it! I know that some just like to hear the SOSO, they enjoy it. Others like to be continously hearing new stuff, they enjoy it. As for myself, I like what I like whether that's SOSO or new stuff.
  7. How did the seller come to the following conclusion ? This pair has 30 inch bottoms, which is the standard for Northern Soul Oxford Bags.
  8. I thought for a minute it was going to be a copy of The Carstairs that you hadn't smashed into a million pieces!
  9. Hit Sound! What about ABC, The Impressions stuff?
  10. Where's Harry Hill when you need him? "Which is better.....Forest Town Welfare or Kingsway Hall? There's only one way to find out.............FIIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHHHHHT!"
  11. I can't open the lists either. These new premises , does that mean a shop? I do hope so as I miss going to the Antiques Centre, when having to visit the in-laws .
  12. Is this topic in some way related to this one >>??????<<
  13. Totally agree, far too many posts on here of late within a similar vein . If it was just about how low would you go, why the need for the story?

I think alot of the problems or benefits of having two rooms, depends on the venue layout. For example, Moldies do at the Crossley Club in Lightwater. It used to be two rooms, one upstairs playing northern/oldies and one downstairs playing modern/crossover. The problem was that the bar and toilets are downstairs, therefore people would go downstairs for a drink (or a leak) and end up staying for longer downstairs chatting to others. This resulted in more people downstairs than up. Since just holding it in just the one room, I think it has improved. However I'm sure there would be others who would say they preferred the two room set up. I attended Bisley once when they had two rooms operating, oldies in the main hall & modern in a second room. I thought the music in the second room was better (also the sound system), but it wasn't promoted that much. Another benefit would have been if the bar and toilets in the second room had been open. This room I felt had the potential to attract a whole different crowd to those who normally attend Bisley and in fact increase the attendance of an event that is already well attended. So for what it's worth, my opinion is that sometimes it isn't just the different types of music played, but sometimes the venue has a big part to play.

I'm not going to get involved in the boot arguments, but just want to post up a post I made a little while back. It was what an Ebay spokesperson said when the Beckhams personal stuff was listed.
  16. Dedicated to what? Your family, your job or your vinyl habit? I understand what you are trying to say (I used to be the same when attending scooter rallies years ago), I can only speak for myself, but my priorities (or should that be dedication?) nowadays are elsewhere. Now that I don't or can't drink alcohol, I intend to get along to the 100 Club more often. I live just a short walk from Heathrow Airport, but getting home from the 100 Club (if not staying until the end when tubes started running) after a drink, used to be a bloody nightmare! Mind you saying that getting home from anywhere in London used to be a nightmare . Now I can drive up there and leave whenever I want, so next year I'll be one of those sneaking out at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning .

With the excellent Biggest Man on the other side.
  18. I'd rather attend evening do's and get to bed at a reasonable time, then I won't be spending the following day in bed whilst the wife and kids are attempting to wake me! Another thing is the travelling, I can't be arsed to spend hours travelling up and down the country. Although if there was somewhere I wanted to attend, I'd probably try and incorporate it into a weekend away.

Who's reputations are we talking about? Yet another thread with no mention of names just insinuations .
  20. Geoff, I've never been to Soul In The Sun, however I did go to Costa Teguise, Lanzarote back in May. It can get rather breezy, so you may want to take that into account if you're going out and about. If you're tempted to go to the market on the Sunday in Teguise, don't bother. One last thing I can recommend the Cutty Sark pub/bar for decent grub and English TV.

Be interesting to see if any action was/is taken, doubt any would if that one wasn't included on the list.

Joe Simon seems popular . Also I've just been thinking. Warren, are you after suggestions for what to play at your forthcoming "Cheap as Chips" night ?
