  1. Not a lot you can do really..The age of the soul punter is going up and up and not enough new blood coming through..Quite simple really, get it while you can because more and more clubs will be closing in the coming year....So many club nights over the last few years, something had to give...We have so many nights in Greater Manchester every month,i would think 15 or more, somethings got to give...
  2. Would love to hear this but can't load it...I get real player ok,can it be sent in that format...
  3. At least this topic gives people a chance to really see what KRL is about..At the end of the day the man got NO RESPECT for people and sees them as another ticket only...I have no problem with promoters making a living/profit out of the soul scene, its hard work putting events together and takes a lot of time and energy.. This post is a look at the man who not only wants to swamp the scene with large scale revival nights in many towns with established soul nights and show little regard to the local promoters...This is the large supermarket coming to your town and the corner shop going out of business....The man in the corner shop as not got a chance on is own and thats why this topic and this forum are here....Soul source is collection of corner shops and the people who shop there,if we all come together then we can tell mr Tesco that we are staying open and offer something extra to our customers...When was the last time you could have a chat with the boss at the supermarket and share a joke or two....I know that Kev will be lurking and looking at this topic, will he come back with any answers about Whitby Gate,No.......He will be looking at other ways of bringing in the cash to keep the king of the castle happy...If the circus comes to your town then tell the ringmaster,no thanks we know that you treat your customers, just like the animals... My freinds paid good money for a weekend in Whitby and got spat at for asking a few questions...The only reply was an email to say you are banned from all my shows in the future...He thought these women would stop asking questions but they stood up and said no way Mr Roberts, you have gone tooooooooooooo far... Like the song says."shop around" and see whats on offer, don't just go towards the bright lights of the supermarket..You will put a pound in the trolley and then find it dont work..You then ask the manager for another pound and he says "go away and your are banned from this store and all my other stores".... Love and peace...Rev...Kenny Lynch..

Another important topic, don't let it get taken up with off topic stuff ... I think Headsy needs the muzzel
  5. Good post Baz....I get a buzz from hearing a new tune that i like and i don't care a cows cu"t if its 10 quid or 2,000...Fresh tunes are what i want to hear and well thought out set ..Semi known, underplayed, rare etc but the price means nowt to me,i hope its cheap and then i too can afford one ...Just a balanced night with good tunes on original viynl... The passion is a different thing for each person too....I get a buzz from seeing people dance and having a good time sat with freinds, not from seeing the chin stroker in the record bar ..I have freinds who just stand in the record bar all night and have a great time too...You pay your money and do what you wanna go... And Yes....The post about Dan and KR is a bit off the mark Many many great cheap tunes without going to BOOT LEGS ARE US ..
  6. Like you said Baz..This post is drifting away like so many others from a the real point...The point is that a person who some of you know is involved in sending this letter and of other dealing too....Lets hope that people power again can win through and the snakes all crawl away..Lets hope that people who behave this way are named and then we can at least keep them away from our nights...Not a letter from pc plod, just a letter from some person who got one Cse in woodwork at school it would seem ,not the sharpest tool in the box...Don't all this shit get you down sometimes...Grown men who act like spoilt kids in the playground..I don't think you will ever really stop rival promoters trying to put each other out of business, thats the game some play...
  7. Repeat records in the same night..How many silly cun"s dance to the same record 3 or 4 times in the same night.... Promoters would have to give a quid back to every customer for each time a repeat was played...I know a few who would soon be piss broke
  8. Mags is welcome at our little club night in Manchester at the moment because Kev aint contacted me yet ...Whats that about flying pigs.... Power to the people always...
  9. Leave the Tempest alone Steve ..Tweak away on the others though...Some who tweak forget to return it to 0 and then the next dj really looks a silly cu"t ..

Great story mr BB ..A real character for sure...I only had the company of Sean for a few hours at soul nights and did not have to live with him Ken..I really hope i can get some contact details for him and have a beer and a chat about old times....Love his tales of running with the Gooners IN THE 70S...... HE MADE ME WELCOME AND MADE ME LAUGH,I CAN'T ASK FOR MORE THAN THAT..
  14. Location a sunny weekender by the sea... Room one.... Ballroom playing great uptempo/mid tempo mix of northern with leaning away from the top 500..I would hear... Live On..J.B.Troy................Dead end street.........Rain maker by the moods.....Someday...Tempest.....Little girl lost and many many more tunes that we all know but don't hear out that much...stuff that keeps the floor full without turning into a northern soul wedding No talc... soft drinks only(the bar is the first option for some and not the music)....waiters only.. No mad spinning guys who shower me in sweat Quality sound system that lets off the smell of rotten farts if Wigan pop tunes come on Large wooden dancefloor with soft lighting.. Just a bit of fun and i hope i don't upset any of you good folk.. love and peace x
  15. Had it last year Dave with Soul Or Nothing at 14 Loyd Street Manchester..The venue closed down and i lost the best place i ever found for a soul night..Also had great times with the rare all niters at the Ritz in the 90s,great to have them tunes in place like the Ritz with the huge dancefloor and big sound system...
  16. Whats become of Skinhead Shaun from the 100 club..I always used to see him by the side of the stage, always a handshake and a smile for me and my mates...Had some good times there in the 90s with him...Not seen or heard of him for quite a few years now..

  22. The other one my dear...I know that you are pure and sweet...
  23. Yes a good call on King Bee and Beatin Rhythm, the better known shops for rare black music...Ask at the counter at Vox pop for some of the better stuff, they have plenty but not really on show....Did not have the Duke down as a funky guy ,yes Fat city have a good selection of underground tunes on the modern(not 70s) side..All these sit in the northern quarter apart from King Bee and there are a few more there too for second hand and new release stuff..Happy shopping...
  24. I think its Kirsty who does the swallow dive the best ..She is from Yorkshire too..
