  1. Dean Anderson - "Souled Out Again" on Tulip Radio now!!! A new regular Wednesday slot for Dean and the gang (well I just heard Neil in the Studio) 7-9pm www.tulip-radio.co.uk Cheers Richard
  2. Is it played on the mod scene maybe? I can see that - more tonic suit & loafers than Northern IMVFHO Cheers Richard
  3. Brilliant record. Is this now proving popular on the Northern scene, rather than just a jazz, or Detroit collectors thing? Tough to get in top condition. Cheers Richard
  4. Agreed - total garbage Cheers Richard
  5. That record by Wombat - I'm Gettin' On Life (Gemni) What on earth is that all about It has a really peculiar and awkward rhythm, plus a really weird hillbilly, come country & western kind of sound How anyone could accept this as a soul record, let alone a northern soul record beggars belief I might let someone off for having danced to it when just a teenager in an amphetamine-fuelled state. As for listening to it though - anyone who rates this as a soul or northern soul record 1) has cloth ears and 2) should have their head tested It's one of the worst middle-of-the-road novelty records of all time So endeth the sermon Cheers Richard
  6. Derek - your are a true connoisseur sir - both of soul and cardboard Cheers Richard
  7. Hi all Can anyone shed any light on this one please? Seems like quite a rare Detroit collector's piece that isn't easy to pick up. Soul Generation - Soul Motivation Part 1/Soul Motivation Part 2 (Tru-Ba-Dor 724) I first heard about it back in the '80s in Rod Dearlove's phenomenal A Collector's Guide To Detroit. Took me a while to find a copy. Can anyone tell me anything about the artist, label, any connected labels - and was this definitely a single release label? (** scan nicked from a SS member's ebay shop where there's one for sale with a soundfile - thanks diggindave! **). Cheers Richard
  8. I have - and my jaw just dropped to the floor I can tell you Derek. I went bonkers at the time but then didn't bother telling the seller as I just thought they were a daft tw*t. On reflection I should have told them, to get them to change their ways and protect other unsuspecting buyers in the future. All of sudden I feel nauseous Cheers Richard
  9. Which label do you want? - Wheelsville USA or Rojac? Or not bothered?
  10. ??? Info anyone please Cheers Richard
  11. Premium Stuff posted a post in a topic in Record Wants
Say what you want in the subject line mate and you stand more chance of getting it :-D
  12. Bob Is this thread in direct response to my thread about there being a current lack of vinyl anorak content here on good old Soul Source More than makes up for things Cheers Richard
  13. Seems like the level of SS content of interest to vinyl anoraks has plumeted of late Is it true or it it just me? Seems like more than just a dip in interest due to the holiday season here in the UK I'm struggling myself to think of a decent vinyl related puzzle to post up Cheers Richard
  14. After much searching I'm chuffed to say I finally got a clean M- copy of this beauty Doesn't turn up that often Cheers Richard
  15. Yes, a weird one this. Some of the Millage records have Detroit, Michigan on the label such as the Tawney Vonne scan shown below. This is connected to the Four Reputation record by Telldell Music Cheers Richard
  16. Soulful Detroit - 2002 - Joe Moorehouse said Note that the Gail Nevilles 45 is on the same multi-colored label as some copies of Johnny Hampton, which suggests (but doesn't prove) that the first pressing of Not My Girl was yellow, then the label was redesigned prior to the second pressing. Cheers Richard
  17. Hi all Anyone got a scan of Johnny Hampton on a multi-coloured Dotty's label, rather than the usual yellow label with black print please? Cheers Richard
  18. Yes Dave There's a thread (or two) on here somewhere with the details - label scans etc. Cheers Richard
  19. Thanks mate
  20. Stanley Woodruff - What took you so long - Juldane DB20036SAFWNS £15 What does DB20036SAFWNS mean please? What is the significance?
  21. Hi Bob Should't it have a bed stamp in the dead wax like Mikki Farrow? I have a WDJ Tony H at home. Can check deadwax but I know it's thin vinyl etc. Not booted as far as I know. Cheers Richard
  22. Yeah - its only samples
  23. Thought Yvonne Verne was cheap at £1,414 though Forgot about it Richard
  24. There's a Rose Batiste 'live' video thingy by Levine Is that it or is there something else - like an unreleased from the vaults thing? If so, can someone post it up please - i.e. the YouTube link btw - I find the You Tube search facility a load of old bollo*ks - not even very useful at finding things you already know are on there Cheers Richard
