Imperial Demos - White & Multi-Coloured
Hi everyone Can anyone give me some background on the Imperial (part of Liberty) demos - the white ones and the multi-coloured green & beige ones? Is there a rule of thumb about which ones are rarer, or are some East/West coast, or some similar kind of differentiation please? Cheers Richard

Jackie And The Tonnets

My Rare Box A - C
Wonder if the levell of interest is just due to people wanting to know how much they are being sold for - rather than wanting to buy? Holding back prices then issuing them in order of original enquiries seems a little unorthodox. Succeeding in then buying them, if previously in first/early depends on the people who got in first (and who could have bought then) being around again to reply fast - otherwise the next few behind in the queue will get them. Just my thoughts Richard

Three Obcsure Tunes

Jack Montgomery - Dearly Beloved M/m- 45 $240 Us - Good Or Too High?
Issue either has "Dearly Beloved" or "My Dear Beloved" The latter is the rarer title and more desirable as far as I know. I think the demos are all titled "Dearly Beloved" Anyone else confirm please? Cheers Richard

"Lifting" And Copying Of Scans And Information For Personal Websites
That's my view Chalky The whole point of posting in the first place is to share Just think it's about credit where due and common courtesy if someone is using elsewhere - kind of honour and respect among collectors etc. It's generally very easy to know who posted what on here I even make it clear if I post something and it's not mine - saying things like 'a scan from eBay' or 'not my record' Cheers Richard

Do You Limit The Size Of Your Collection
Remember when I started collecting again, having basically sold-up previously. Prices had (so I thought then) gone through the roof. My ambition was just to have a 100 count box of quality rare sounds. At that time (this will probably date it for you), I remember that in the intervening period when I wasn't collecting Willie Kendrick 'Change Your Ways' had gone from around a tenner to 100 quid on a demo That was then and the collection is still growing Cheers Richard

Do You Limit The Size Of Your Collection
Limiting factors for me are: The existence of the records in the first place (whether they were released - in the genres or on the labels I collect - if so I want them) Actual availability of the records I want (whether I can find them - so limited by the old supply/demand) Price (so limited by money of course) Cheers Richard

"Lifting" And Copying Of Scans And Information For Personal Websites
Well said Chalky I sometimes come across sites and see copies of scans I have posted on here or elsewhere and think - mmm credit where credit's due would be nice! It comes down to 1) having tracked down the rare 45 in the first place 2) having taken the time to do a decent scan, nicely lined up with decent res etc. and then shared it. Just posting up someone else's scan can seem like taking the credit for that. Any sites you are thinking of in particular please? Would be nice to have a look in any case as they must have decent content. Cheers Richard

Warning This Piece Of Shite Is At It Again Buyers Beware
Hi Darren How did you get on with taking some kind of legal action as per the old thread? Can't you do anything to mess him up with ebay or at least this auction? Cheers Richard

Edwin Starr - My Kind Of Woman - How Rare, And What's It Going For These Days?
The other side is also brilliant "You're My Mellow" - this is one of the best Detroit double-siders around - superb drumming on "You're My Mellow" too In M-/Ex condition something like £150 for an issue?? Much, much rarer on a demo (looks like the issue but has the 'Not for Sale' etc writing on). Cheers Richard

Sam Ward Sister Lee
 Look above (or have you done that already?) Cheers Richard

Sam Ward Sister Lee
If I was thinking of selling mine, or any other disc of comparable quality or rarity, I don't think I would pick offers on Soul Source to be honest. From my observations I don't think the right kind of offers get generated on here. The options I would look at are: Set Sale - Soul Source or privately with the asking price you want for it - backed with full condition description (vinyl and label - both sides) label scans and sound files. Only takes one buyer to get your asking price and set sale against the clock certainly focuses the mind. eBay - either auction with no reserve or Buy It Now with above asking price - with scans sound files as above. Need to factor in eBay/PayPal fees etc. Main Dealer Auction - often get highest prices but need to factor in commission etc. The lower prices that are getting quoted on here seem mainly to be for sales where IMO the record has been let go for much less than the price I would expect to get for it. I reckon Tim Brown's copy will sell for more than the minimum bid, and the recent one on eBay clearly went for a good price with a large amount of bidders and not that good nick. eBay definitely comes into its own with sales of this kind of quality rare disc - if you can swallow the fees etc. Cheers Richard

Sam Ward Sister Lee
Tim Brown's got one on auction on this week's list with the following pitch: Sam Ward - Sister Lee - Groove City 205 VG++ MIN BID £650 Strong grading close to mint minus - not been on Ebay in anything other than battered condition for over 5 years Shame we can't work out the finishing prices on some auctions Cheers Richard
