--> QUOTE(C.B @ Dec 13 2006, 01:04 PM) link There's a guy on eBay that tries to sell this 'buy-it-now' all of the time. Not sure if he's got more than one copy, though. Last time it was listed, I think it was $499 or something. Yes, there's a guy that seems to have a box of these in the states, I don't know how many have been sold 3-4? over the last few months.
  6. George, Marva will be playing live in Australia in June.... How good is that!!!!! Samantha
  7. First: Aretha Franklin - Chain of fools Flipped it over and fell in love with Prove it Last: Cynthia Sheeler - Love you (more than words can say) Superdome

The last one on ebay went close to $500 USD
  9. Sam Fletcher - I'd think it over
  10. Yes, great record!!!
  11. Not suprised to see posts from Maria and George, both having grown up in one of the biggest gay cities of the world therefore making sexual politics a non issue. BTW There has been a strong affinity within drag queen culture and soul music since the days of Stonewall. Seriously though, first it was gender based threads now sexuality based ones.... are people just clutching at straws for topics????
  12. The way I see it is that a collector buys records because they like them, regardless of tempo or the possibility of playing them out. A DJ buys with a mind to play out only. Having said that the northern scene is as much a collectors scene as it is a dance scene, which is why you have record bars at do's so the line is blurry.
  13. There are a few very serious spenders here in oz, The Don Gardner from manships auction came here. A friend of mine spent well over the odds for the Natural impulse 45 last year and he doesn't DJ soul out. On one hand I find it baffling spending THAT much cash on one 45, on the other, I'm glad we have these rare records in the country and I suppose if I had that kind of cash I'd do it too.
  14. Larry Davis -The magic is gone pretty clap happy tune
  15. Also came out on an Australian 4 track EP
  16. Doubt it's had a repress, its a cheap record BUT a brilliant one. Last manifesto mag had a discography of the label.
  17. oh look I'm back up top
  18. Sorry I cant post it up but have to recommened this one as a perfect funk/soul blend!!! Curtis Liggin's Indications - What it is
  19. Pity your not here with the national this weekend, I'm sure you'd have fun playing the stuff you've bought at it I'm playing the sunday which is license to play what ever I like, I think, with just Ady and Alex on the dancefloor no doubt Samantha
  20. Cookie Scott - Mislead - Orr Personally I think this is a better track than "I don't care" and much cheaper
  21. I have taken this post from the funk forum as I thought it would be of interest. Absolute tragedy. Sugar Pie DeSanto (whose song, "The Whoopee" is one of the ones featured on Office Naps) lost her husband and home last week to an apartment fire. There's now a fund being set up to help her out and Ubiquity Records will also be running some similar work. This is a legend and a very sweet person and our heart goes out to her during this terrible tragedy. 22. I've always thought that crossover was when its not on the 4/4 and has instead, a back beat, although I am probably wrong. And could someone tell me what the hell is "tent" music

The flip to Groove in is great "gotta find a way " sorry I can't post a clip. Weren't they the house band for OKeh for awhile?
  24. I can only speak for myself but I'd be pretty pissed off if I was booked for a gig because of my gender and not my records and ability to get people dancing.
