  1. Sorry Chalky same speed as per 45, there are very few I notch up or down and this was never one.

    That's Simon Soussain!
  3. 1964 recording. Come on Roddy get that rugby field mud washed out of your ears! Actually I like 'em all but Luther shades it.
  4. At my first nighter at Kelmarsh in Northants (was it 1969 anyone?) I found myself surrounded by 100 skinheads while i had hair down my back (none on my head). Everyone totally accepted me, Mad George from Bedford sold me some gear and a skinhead girl said "it's nice to see some weirdos round here!" she actually meant it in a nice way. The scene was so small in those days that fellow soulies were glad of anyone showing an interest. Later on I found some of the Wheel lot who used to come down a bit superior, but they did dress well. I never had any problems as a punter from that day on: as a promoter that's another story-but still not much in thirty years.
  5. Thanks Ian, I'll reply to your pm after the dentist-ouch!
  6. That's the one Pete, if anyone could verify the writers that would be great and groovy.
  7. i think it was an English only mid-60s dancer. If anyone's got it who wrote it? ta Ady
  8. Sure did, thanks, I'd forgotten all about it.
  9. it was a cut from the master tape i found, I eventually found the 1st 45 of it at Billy Jackson's. Ken Ronnie Milsap was Scepter, the sister label of course (but belatedly came out on UK Wand I think).
  10. I can see why someone with dosh would pay 4 grand for that it's great, obviously super-rare and cute with it. Did a DJ buy it to share it out with us plebs John?
  11. The Tandels female orig Is It Love Baby and the Magicians male orig Just A Little Faith And Understanding. Buy the Kent CDs and keep me in work. They're great comps too! Ady

It's all stuff from Popcorn Wiley, wasn't it something to do with Guy Hennigan?
  14. Probably from me, I had half a dozen Shane Ms and didn't know my prices, I was very popular. I think The Fuller Bros was the 2nd copy that Dave Burton took up to the Torch from Soho, I think the first was already up North but don't quote me.
  15. Presumably as an LP track on one of those budget jobbies that featured Dress rehearsal etc?
  16. And does anyone know if its the same geezer? I'd love to speak to him again.
  17. Hi Brian, did Jeff have a place in Brum? I couldn't quite follow your sentence. I always thought he was a Leicester chap and used to visit his market stall there, but I was fifteen at the time.
  18. I've got one somewhere for you, if I can ever find it.
  19. The second Fuller Brothers was about £70 to Minsh in approx 72 at the Torch. I remember Jeff King wanting a fiver for a UK Human Beinz on his stall in Leicester market about 1970, that was a fortune to me (couldn't afford it) but about the same time I did splash out a quid on a couple of sounds. Mick Humphries paid £4 around then for Hooked By Love Homer Banks, which I thought was crazy because his best one 60 Minutes was only a quid or so.
  20. Bummer! What a shame, you were the most visionary and delivering promoters on the scene and it is much weaker for your departure. I'm sure you both really deserve a break. Dealing with the niggles and fragile egos of the scene is tough on anyone and ironically especially on people who care. If you fancy another bash later I'm sure there'll be a vacancy for a forward thinking promoter who puts their money where their mouth is. In the meantime just come out and have some fun, you're welcome at the 100 anytime.
  21. And of course it was Gilly who put Kent on to the whole Dave Hamilton deal. However check with Gillly again as I'm sure the copy we scanned was his via Chris Ashby.
  22. Ex 100 Clubber and a big fan of Dave Hamilton's Detroit Dancers. I persuaded her to duet Private Number with William for Ace's 30th anniversary at the Jazz Cafe and it went down so well they redid it on Jools Holland. I'm in the background on a table necking the free beer.
  23. Please Ady
