  1. Lenny O'Henry RIP View full article
  2. That's right, it's all coming back to me. Dee Irwin must have switched coasts too
  3. He was another who flitted between those cities. No idea on the issue
  4. Yeah, much more Northern than Modern despite being 71. Probably suffered from the weird name. It's interesting it's Jesse Herring on what otherwise looks like an L A production. He must have flitted between LA and NYC
  5. Thanks people, sorry it took me a while to let you know problem solved. Thanks for the extra info too. I wish I could Dave but it's my weekend with Sonny so no chance I'm afraid; it'll be a memorable night.
  6. Well put Martin, he was a real southern gentleman and talented too.
  7. That's very sad, he was a smashing bloke who came over to the UK just to see the interest in 'I'm Waiting' with his own eyes. He had a bit of a mobility problem about 4 years ago when he came with his friend Martin Gavin to Crossfire and was proud as could be to hear his song being played out over the speakers and packing the dancefloor.
  8. Has anybody got a nice clean copy they could loan for a few days please? Ta Ady
  9. That obscure German LP passed me by can someone scan it and I could use a sound file too. Cheers Ady
  10. Thanks for such a thoughtful write-up Dave, coming from a man of your taste and experience it means a lot. It'll sound like mutual back scratching but it's true that I credited Stafford and your mob for giving us a direction and purpose in the mid 80s when we were drifting a bit. I doubt if we'd have got to 35 without your scene's influence and cultural exchanges between the nutters of the North and the Psychos of the South. That's why I dedicated the Tommy Navarro spin to Stafford. Cheers Ady
  11. That's about it. Around the same time I applied for a job as a plugger at Motown, told them they should release There's A Ghost In My House and I Ain't Going Nowhere, I didn't get the job, Ghost came out as an A side and was a huge hit, Nowhere was stuck on a two track B side of a 3 track single and got............ .nowhere.
  12. Thanks Ricky but I really need a proper one from the disc
  13. Come on chaps, dig 'em out, I know they're lurking
  14. When I started listening to Mike Raven I used to listen to the blues and turn it off when it got to the soul and then did the reverse later.
  15. Sounds right. I met Mike Cotton a few times playing jazz at the 100 Club. Smashing bloke who could laugh about having rejected Joe Cocker as a lead singer as he was a greaser and the band were all mods and then later rejected Reg Dwight as a keyboards player for being too short and square.
  16. I remember it well, the LP came out quite a time before the 45 which was only issued when demand from LP plays enforced it. One of the dates-probably the LP release- must be wrong
  17. I think Mike Cotton's version was a straight copy of Beau Dollar and the Coins on a Fraternity subsidiary. Lonnie Mack on guitar and probably his band
  18. I could really use a hi-res scan of both sides of these and possibly a sound file too. CDs in return. 1042 is Baby Be Mine/Love With A Feeling Ta Ady
  19. It was a Goldmine CD, though to be fair we all make mistakes and it was early doors.
  20. And Troy Dodds was from the Bay Area/San Francisco; I couldn't resist LOL
  21. I think one award at a time would be best then we can lobby and discuss. Maybe start at the start of a month and end at the end. Also that way we could see how the voting's going and if people disagree will put their votes in
  22. Soulboy was a big disappointment, this one isn't
