  1. If you look on Popsike the original press of One Little Dance is that number. Or I've flipped
  2. I'm sure it is then, i just wondered about them using the same number on two different releases. Funnily enough Boba sent one back to a dealer cause he wasn't sure then realised he'd probably made a mistake
  3. That'd be great, thanks. Consider that one off the list folks. Still need LC
  4. Needed please. Hi res (300 dpi min) please and CDs await you. Ady
  5. Yes please she may remember. i'll email you.
  6. Anyone know if Someone To Fulfill My Needs is kosher? It's the same cat no as the first issue of One Little Dance and the scan I saw looked iffy but Jeff Lemlich thought it was proper and got his from the label owner so it sounds OK.
  7. I agree Rob, but I should have added that this Clyde Wilson was an occasional writing partner of Rose Marie McCoy in the early 60s and I think is likely to be an East Coast guy. I was hoping someone might know of other Clyde Wilson work on the East Coast as I can only account for the late and early 60s.
  8. I've just noticed that the normally reliable R&B Indies book has SMC records as out of Detroit co-owned by Leroy Kirkland and Clyde Wilson AKA Steve Mancha. I'm virtually certain this is wrong. Leroy was out of NYC and SMC was 69-71 when Steve was around Invictus. Also the other main artist on SMC is Bee Bee Butler who recorded for Barry also NYC. Still any verification would be handy. Ady
  9. I forgot to put the flyer in my recent mail out which was thus. In an effort to keep things fresh, after 35 years, down the soul-drenched basement, we’ve come up with the currently in-vogue notion of employing a curator for the 100 Club all-nighter. For the first of these occasional endeavours in August we’ve chosen Matt Bolton a regular fixture on the 100 Club dancefloor and a noted DJ, collector and promoter to boot. It’s not a complete revolution at the palace as Matt’s #1 DJ is Butch and he’s stuck with me; in my dotage I need to spin a few to stay awake. Matt has an impressive collection of black music of all genres, accumulated over his years of soul scene participation — he’s young but he ain’t no chicken. He has chosen two guests that are largely new to me, but of whom I am hearing great things. In Matt’s words: An ardent collector of all things soulful through the ages, renowned veteran compiler Darren 'Red Greg' Griffiths sends ripples of joy through all that hear him play. Renowned in 70s circles for his exquisite taste his personal predilections encompass the sweet female soul of the 60s. We can't wait to hear what gems he pulls out of his fabled walls of wax. Steve 'Mr Fish' Clancy's sales lists alone are the envy of many DJs, so just imagine what wonders his playbox holds! Prepare to be dazzled with a glutch of hen’s teeth, in-demand monsters and a sprinkling of Mr Fish exclusives. Matt will be going the extra mile in promoting the night and the event will no doubt draw some new ears and feet to our venerated establishment. Ady
  10. The difference is it's not the bloke who's put on the do this time. And I don't think the DJs are particularly Matt's mates, he has more class than that; that's why I chose him for this.
  11. That's about it Martyn. They get the whole night but as I said in the blurb, Butch is his favourite DJ anyway and he's lumbered with me.
  12. That's the nub of it. It's a different angle from a person I trust and respect and has a better knowledge of who's playing what and where and also who can keep him and his crowd dancing all night. I take your point Kev about we've not done too shabby over the years but I've always tried to liven it up where I can and this is a well considered departure. There's no denying Matt will improve on my promotional skills and being busy with my lad most weekends I'm not getting to hear what's going on in the soul world enough.
  13. Enjoyable but I do feel sorry for Ten CC not getting a mention, they were a major top quality group.
  14. Nope, off the Romark Records CD on Kent thankfully.
  15. That'll sound nice live too!
  16. It's called the 100 Club and it's ongoing.
  17. It's a great early 70s slow blues Romark recording. Has anybody heard it played? Probably on that Sky Sat morning show that plays a lot of good soul and blues.
  18. A year earlier then; what do I know, it's Modern!
  19. Yep the Billy Cee is a different version of the same song, sounds slightly earlier to me. The Tommy Raye is indeed issued on XL and there's a scan of it in the booklet. 20 of the 24 tracks were previously unissued, four are merely obscure. Fab CD.
  20. Poor darling and Jon's had such a hard time of it too but got on with it happily. Sue was incredibly brave too and it was wonderful to see her down the 100 Club a few months ago. She was loving every minute and the lads had to drag her away for her own good. My condolences to Jon, Pete and the family.
  21. Torture is an improved better quality tape mix from Town 110 but the main reason for the 45 being on CITY/Select was the Chuck 'Millionaire'.
  22. Sorry Cleethorpes-lag; not thinking straight!
