  1. HI ALL...On a personal note, LONDON HLR 10180 BORN FREE c/w PUSH A LITTLE HARDER, are 2 quality sides, although I play the B side the most, I have always liked the A side, it's just a shame the other 45s did not get a UK release, evens so the LONDON DEMO is quite hard to find in 2013, as to value I ain't got a clue DAVE K
  2. HI TONY... Was going to do a thread on 100 club anniversary 45s, although you do not have it for sale, 6T 14 SAN FRANCISCO TKO'S, "MAKE UP YOUR MIND" - Is on a current listing this week at £200, why is this one more, than the others? surely they made the same number of copies, it can't be down to demand, or can it? DAVE K
  3. HI ALL....Am I right in saying one of the FRANK WILSON, VIP copys, is a bit f**ked? does that make it a token value item? DAVE K
  4. HI ALL....Thanks for the reply IVOR, as a collector I do understand your logic, also many of us play 45s on expensive equipment and would be put off or even alarmed if they played anything below VG++, however we can't always take the John Anderson approach to vinyl, every thing must be mint, as ultimately he/you will miss out on certain records, the SHRINE LABEL comes to mind, also a stack of rare SKA, ROCK STEADY & REGGAE JA PRESSED 45s, as for a fact some only exist in fair to good condition, still if you have a big wallet who am I to state what you should or should not buy, as for me, as I have no intentions of selling my collection, that's for others to do when I am dead, I am ok with my perspective on what I buy & play DAVE K
  5. HI ALL......PEOPPLE? PEOPLE?? I'm not PEOPLE, PLEASE ADDRESS US AS BROTHERS & SISTERS & not PEOPLE. This answer may be an ideal for some, but reality is fact, in 2013 finding records in ex+ or mint condition is rare, and it is only a lucky few who get this option, or you can buy from J M AUCTION, which tells me you are in the money, at a time when the majority are not. in my collection of US SOUL I have only a few worth over £1K 2 have hair line cracks, to say that you think they are worthless, I think not, as a person who loves SOUL, would find a damaged record of 40+ years OK, after all "booty is only skin deep" DAVE K
  6. HI ALL....In my collection of 45s I must have at least 50 records with some sort of plastic damage warp or crack, so why have I got them, and what value would I put on them?..........Well it's a bit like asking "how long is a piece of string" as many records will get damaged if mishandled, from a hair line crack to 45 split in half, they still have a value, So it is value I will attempt to give you my take on the subject, to start with if it does cost less the £20 bin it & get a new copy, if it is split but when pressed together a bit of tape will fix it, making the record playable, but the value will be reduced by half, anything above this will be a lot harder to repair, I sold Pete Lawson RIP a DEMO of JACK MONTGOMARY " my dear beloved" that was split around the centre, the wax was mint and had no damage at all, he gave me £100 and was happy with the deal, so it depends on the individual and if you are buying or selling that will determine the price, however a big no no, is selling a damaged record without telling someone,? DAVE K

HI ALL...1975....After working my way home after being at BLACKPOOL, WIGAN & MANCHESTER, We headed to the EAST MIDLANDS to NOTTINGHAM and on to Leicester , by the time we left to head home, it was early Tuesday morning 3am, after posting all the cash, we headed for the M1 and stopped at Leicester Forest East Services, at 6am we headed southbound after I mile we noticed that there was a unmarked Police car tailing us,1/2 mile further we saw what looked like a road block, & guess what, it was for us, after being arrested we were taken to Wigston police station, the Police told us we had been grassed up. never been back DAVE K

HELLO! A LO, INSPECTOR CORNER OF THE YARD, HERE, Did you no that the cost of a raid like this one, is half of the budget tat the drug services in a town like Burnley have in a year & it's 2/3 of the police budget, That means that the success that was reported in the rag, tells every dealer that they can't afford to do another till next April?? I say ACAB DAVE K

HI ALL....Will put a few foreward later, however in the matrix of records of the time, some have a message War related, the STARFIRES - "HEY STONY FACE" ORIG. COMES TO MIND DAVE K
  11. HI ALL...What a great reply! one of the best & so true, the CASNO YEARS, MELT LIKE CHOCOLETE IN YOUR POCKRT, SOME WOULD SAY "OUR LOVE IS IN THE POCKET". EVERY NIGHT WAS UNFORGETABLE IN A FORGETABLE WAY, And the some, like BETTY WRIGHT, Jr WALKERS TOMMY HUNT, & YES ENGLAND THIS ENGLAND TV PROG, The trouble with melted chocolate in your pocket, is do you eat it or wash it away? DAVE K
  12. HI ALL....BAD NIGHT...IT WAS TERRIBLE, ALL ATMOSPHERE GONE, HOWEVER, THAT NIGHT I USED A SUPER8 MOVIE CAMARA AND SPENT MY TIME SHOOTING ALL OVER THE PLACE? (That sounds rude) I HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT THIS FILM BEFORE, IT BELONGED TO TAFFYS MATE TOM FROM LETCHWORTH, WHATS THE MARROW WITH BIG PIXALS? DAVE K
  13. HI ALL....GOING THROUGH SOME BOX'S YESTERDAY, WHEN I FOUND THIS WANT LIST FROM 1996 OR THERE ABOUT, IT'S FROM A YOUNG SKINHEAD FROM THE MIDLANDS, HE WAS AFFTER......WELL TAKE A LOOK AT HIS WANTS LIST, THE ASTRIX ON THE R/HAND SIDE ARE THE SOUNDS I GOT FOR HIM, HE PAID £300, BY THE MILLENUIM THEY HAD TRIPLED IN VALUE, TODAY VALUE? I DON'T NO AS EVEN I CAN'T FIND SOME OF THEM, DAVE K
  14. HI ALL.. Steve, nice one mate, however my point was more about the many people who attended the CASINO over the 7 years, but it's always the same regurgitated stuff, same people talking about "people come from all over the , Lands End to John O Groates" which is stated in all programmes on Wigan Casino, A few years ago I saw a programme that said every body has the right to royalties if they have been filmed & the focus was on them as part of the film? also we all have the right to have our faces pixel out of any video that we applier on. After all I was just making a point, shots of me are in the entrance, bar & outside, it was a strange night, I don't no if anybody was told the filming was to taking place before hand, but it was strange? DAVE K I'M THE FACE WITH LONG LEATHER HOLDING RECORD BOX,
  15. HI ALL....Back in the mid 7ts my weekend would start on a Thursday night, when Mick Smith & myself would go to Bedford Soul Nights, Friday Wigan Casino Oldies All-Nighter, Saturday Blackpool Mecca then Wigan Casino All-Nighter, Sunday the Ritz or Samanthas All-Dayer. a few miles of travel that not many would beat? However having no motor myself, I would thumb my way up north, I remember one time at junction 10 M1 for ages, when this car stopped, I looked through the wIndow at my brother in law was grinning at me, he was going to Bolton he said "you should of asked" DAVE K
  16. HI ALL. I THINK MOST OF THE BABY BOOM KIDS, CHALANGED THE SYSTEM, TO PROMOTE THIER YOUTH CULTURE,IN THE HERE & NOW! It is because we were in control of our destiny, we pushed our ideals to the point it was normal to stay up all night listening to the obscure failure of black music, The issues that longevity of the RARE SOUL SCENE will carry on as long running underground movement, although some of the early fundamentals of the scene have been lost by many of the elders on the scene, (not me though, I can't imagine going to a all-nighter without a input of stimulants, & my record box, 2 essential aspects of self) As for will they remember us, well no they will not, how many teenagers today, remember our parents? my old man went to war for 5 years, in the most famous battles in British history, WILL THEY REMEMBER THEM? WILL THEY F++K. DAVE K
  17. HI ALL....If they show clips of ENGALAND THIS ENGALAD, can I claim royalties as I'm in that? not mucking about, they should ask people who spent all day Saturday, thumbing a lift from junction 10 M1 to Wigan, just to get in, it's gonna be the same stuff as usual. DAVE K
  18. HI ALL...I REMEMBER A FEW YEARS AGO, WOLVES RECORD FAIR, PETE showed me a dealer who was selling cheap TROJAN BOX SETS, we bot got about 10 sets, the CD's are still unopened sitting on a shelf, yet my records get played every day, DAVE K
  19. HI ALL... For the very best soul night, you would have me as DJ, QUALITY SOUNDS, & LOADS OF SPEED NO ALCHOL EXCEPT FOR SNAKE BITES, BLACK & TANS & EAST END SNAKE BITE (BITTER & CIDER) YOU WOULD ARIVE IN A NICKED MOTOR, LET ME NO IF YOU WANT TO BOOK ME DAVE K
  20. HI ALL.. As a collector of cult books there are so many, however it seems that you have the NORTHERN SOUL ones, avoid any book that the author mentions, when talking about WIGAN CASINO, "THE PEOPLE COME FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY...FROM LANDS END TO JON O GROATES" If there is one thing that makes me lose interest is that remark, Oh & the word SOULIE with 1 exception if you come from STOKE ON SPOON, A RECOMENDED READ, from DtheDRUG, THE SHARPER WORD..A MOD ANTHOLOGY..REVISED & UPDATED..EDITED PAOLO HEWITT. HELTER SKELTER PUBLISHING A pretty good book, WATERSTONES should have one (small enough to slip into your pocket) or pay at the counter DAVE K.
  21. HI ALL....UK Tamla Motown TMG 680 DEMO, has MARY JOHNSON instead of MARV, DAVE K
  22. HI ALL... It would seem that the orange OUT OF THE PAST label, is more elusive than the mucky green, green & blue labels, the 2 orange labels that I have are ISC-001-A THE HUMAN BEINZ - NOBODY BUT ME, & ISC-118-B CARL DOUGLAS - SERVING A SENTENCE OF LIFE, (ISC stands for International Soul Club, Chris Burtons Promotions, Chris was the owner of the TORCH, TUNSTALL) I'm not sure who picked the records for the label, I have assumed it was SIMON & KEITH? judging by the quality control of how the label was run, at the time. I went out of my way to buy every release as a must have, all the 45s are classics and as I say the orange label is tuff, most people were unaware that the HUMAN BEINZ even come out or indeed the 1st on the label, As to the LINDA JONES, I have never seen one, and it is a record that I associate with the BLACKPOOL MECCA, If it did come out it would have been on the white OOTP label, can't see it on the gap# ISC002/3/4, As it was still on the MECCA playlist. I have 2 good memories about the label, 1) BLUES & SOUL CONTEMPO Record club, used to have a advert on the back inner page, listed about all the OOTP Releases, unaware that they were BOOTLEGS, a PISS TAKE if ever I saw one. 2) the LEEDS FESTIVAL ALL-NIGHTER 74, Has there been a better All-nighter? seeing a wall full of OOTP 45s, If any one has info on any unreleased 45s or the existence of LINDA JONES post it up, DAVE K
  23. HI ALL..... Yes indeed DETROIT A GO GO, it was Rich, I agree with you about the cream bootleg, I have a box of 72 - 76 BOOTLEGS, and in my opinion I would put more value on them, than any of these so called reissues that flood the pages on Ebay with the BUY IT NOW TAG, why anyone would buy them just goes over my head, I wonder if anyone has a full set? apart from the people selling them, I don't no, but have they done a SISTER LEE, GETTING BACK ON SUBJECT the value John puts on the record is a bit low, the same goes for "THE UPPER HAND" How many people have ad that one, and again the BOOTLEG is always worth picking up, my last copy had a edge warp when I sold it at KEELE, even so that copy fetches £600 worth every penny as you just never see it, both records are real gems to own, and it would not bother me if a DJ played the BOOLEG if you have owned a original in the past, DAVE K
  24. HI ALL Richard I was going to reply prove it! or your point is? however as you have a copy, do you agree with my statement? as just saying yes! adds little to the debate, on BOOTLEGS, I like your reply, if we were talking in a pub, is it up for sale? what is it's value today DAVE K thanx
