Soulsource Record Club, Your Record Of The Day Mid-Summer
Hi All I will be starting a new thread for the RECORD of the DAY LATER on 7PMish...as it takes to long to load on my PC, Can I just mention, this thread is so eclectic & there has not been a single record, that I would reject from my box, this is down to the vast knowledge of all the contributors, what a brilliant All Nighter if this selection got played, The Peoples Choice Lost & Found really sums up what this thread is all about, great record very affordable, but more important it's a Classic, I love the record, great stuff laters, DAVE

Jackie Opel - Every Word I Say Is True: Who Else Sings On This Rhythm-Track?
HI How astute, the jackanory is based on a real character, but has nothing to do with the record in question, and he is the face on the Equals BSBEB Cover, my point is surely who cares? about this sort of info. Your reply is bang on, and reminded me of (true story) of 1976 when we worked with Glasgow's folk band, the TANNER HILL WEAVERS, At the NEW FARM RECORDING STUDIO, (*how I wish I could go back in time?) we refurbish the studio with equipment from ISLAND RECORDS in Harlesden, the 4 track AMPEX came with a box of tapes, to use as rehearsal demos, for those who I have heard this story sorry, but over 3 days of recording, we destroyed 18 hours of PRINCE BUSTERS UNREALEASED STUDIO TAPES FROM 1967, What we did not destroy is available on an LP from the late 8T's it's about 30 minutes long! topps! Soulsource Record Club, Your Record Of The Day Mid-Summer
HI ALL MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm I WAS TO DO SOMETHING? IT'LL COME TO ME!........... Early on I added this record to the thread on JACKIE EDWARDS, however after 3 phone calls received. I think I should of stocked up on it, however? The record was a very poor seller on release, for some of you out there, you may have got into this one about 2 years ago if you are on the UNDERGROUND SOUL IN-CROWD? or like me had records sold records, reminded about records that you have sold, and re discovered it, after playing TIGHTEN UP LP's. As a lover of both soul & reggae, who gets confused by the renaming of music styles, as i love the term norther soul, but hate the racist tag skinhead reggae, this record should be given the category "TIP TOP XOVER CHUNE" As that's exactly what it is, an a must for collectors to own, and play it LOUD!! JACKIE EDWARDS - I DO LOVE YOU c/w WHO TOLD YOU SO- BREAD BR-1100. Rated******6 stars? - Value £15 yesterday (been told that it is worth much more, from to-day?) D the DRUG Say's don't delay & buy to-day! ENJOY THIS ONE DAVE

Jackie Opel - Every Word I Say Is True: Who Else Sings On This Rhythm-Track?
HI What a funny question to ask? what you can hear is the voice of the man they call the "sweeper" Winston Mc Intosh, who moved to London in 65, as you are aware all recordings are done in one take! so the sweeper tried to get his voice noticed, there is a good PRESIDANT sleave, for BLACK SCIN BLUE EYED BOY, That's the sweeper, he is a old man now, and lives in FINSBURY PARK, he can still be seen wareing his ISLINGTON COUNCIL Donkey jacket swooping for buts? sad story of the STUDIO SWEEPER, Hope that answerd your question? Toots And The Maytals 100 Club
Hi All A Jamaican 2 hours late Pete? Have you never heard of Jamaican time mate? All I can say about TOOTS is this, having seen many many Live acts, late or not, Toots is one of the top 5 of them all, his reputation of his live preformance is a must, having seen him 3 times his act was differant each time, yet all his songs are classic (in my opinion), The last time I saw him was in Wolverhampton, before the smoking ban? as I no longer smoke the weed, I got wrecked from the intake of passive smoke from the herb! However got realy into the vibe man, like truely amazing man like you no! I mean man it was well roots in it? DAVE

Clandisc Reggae Id
HI TONY Yes indeed he did, in-fact he Dave Barker, Laural Aikin, & PAMA DICE were behind a lot of records that were recorded, in LONDON, that have become SKINHEAD CLASSICS, So it's the London sound, not the JA sound that rules?? DAVE PS. This is one of the 1st events that ANDREW from Notts put on, the Art Work is by "old school Jim" aka JIM SILES My close friend and part of "skinflint productions" "more than skin deep" & "the SPIRIT of 69" NICE POSTER FOR YOUR WALL, Any copies that are sold, will cost you £1K or public humiliation? I kid not! DAVE

Mr. Manship Auctions - Has Anyone Sold Through His Auction
HI ALL.......Not quite sure what you mean as your question is followed by your answer? however if you want to know if it's ok! to buy from, well 100% all items are packed and dispatched very fast, many bargains on the drop down auction and in his stock, main auction all depends on how much you want something, as it's very rare that any thing slips through these days, mind you i am no big fan of auctions DAVE

Clandisc Reggae Id
HI ALL..Just to point out, that many mistakes were deliberate, as often the record was released in this country twice, B&C/TROJAN & PAMA INT, or a different cut, however also to be considered, is that at the record companies, in typical Jamaican style the info was shortened & misspelled, as many people who worked in UK pressing plants did not understand patwa yet alone when written down, it's has led us to some wonderful titles from the time, so there's just 2 of many issues to consider? The Icemen - 45S Listings,
HI PETE......Nice one, and another MEMORY LANE find, I had a few excellent bargains from them,DEAN JONES DEMO £5. "soft walk-in" TOTO PIC SLEEVE £10, JIMMY THOMAS DEMO £20, & many records for under £5, If you look again at my posting, you will see that I put RN in it, this refers to one of my favourite collectors, who's knowledge on soul music facts is outstanding. I'm talking about Roger Nichols from Willingly, Roger gave me a box of rare 45s to sell, all quality & all rare, in the box was OLE-9 on a blue press, I had the box for about 6 weeks, I met Mick at the services on the M6 & showed him the box, (now we go back many years, and most records I have sold mick have always been at the same price I got them for, and he did the same in return, remember the day you wanted the Screamin Jay Hawkins DECCA DEMO, that I got of Mick? that was a typical deal) when it come to putting a price on the record I said £200, he thought about it, but turned it down, I assumed he thought I had to have got it for £100 and that I had marked it up??? I think you had just moved back from Kent, just a few moths later, and I bet Roger had sold it to John, as he had got a few thousand from him, Now I was told Mick had paid £400 for a copy, but your selling price seems to be what a dealer would pay, but if both records are the same record it means you mugged him or Mick mugged himself, only if it's the same record, I won't tell him!
