Have You Ever Bought The Wrong Record, Thinking It Was Something Else?
HI ALL Quite a few over the 40 years, Back in 1974 i asked Dave Chase from Shefford who was going to the CASINO, if he saw a copy of Lada EdmondsJR "Larue" to buy it for me. The problem was i did not no who it was! so i sung it, when i next saw him he said he got me my record, he gave me a boot of Terrible Tom. think about it. More recent i got this???? a picture is worth a 1000 words DAVE K

Current Values + Info On These Please
Hi All....As I ain't been around much, I was wondering the value of on these 2, and a pleasant surprise on playing the WILLIAM BONNY B SIDE, It must be the 1st play in 20 years for me, and for a classic 6ts up-tempo pop record, it hits the spot, remanded *** the flip it! keeping 1 foot on the ground while you reach for the stars (CC or KK) ***** in this case. CHARLES MINTZ Is a great record with a blues feel to it, got this and 20 other imports of a London dealer in the mid 80ts, the records were £1.50 which included CANDI STATON "NOW YOU'VE GOT THE UPPER HAND" UNITY 711 & A white label DEMO of THE HESITATIONS "I'M BOT BUILT THAT WAY KAPP 790 as both records had edge warps, you may have them in your box, right now, as the "the UPPER HAND" Is one of the rarest records I have owned, you never see it even with the slight edge warp, which I fixed. Back to the record and it's the label on this as well as value, all other copy's are on the familiar UP-LOOK LABEL, even then there is a red green, & yellow labels?? Finally the CHARADES "YOUR WITH ME ALL THE WAY" What a great record, todays value, please. CHEERS DAVE K

Soul Scene Villains
Hi All Are you sure it was mathadine?? as your desciption sounds like methadone as the liquid you describe is for physeptone which is a synthetic opiate, that was made by the NAZIS Chemists as they where unable to get any Poppy's to make morphine / DOA-morphine, the name HEROIN is a brand name for dia-morphine, methadone was used as a heroin substitute and it's gloppy state that is offered to addicts, is to prevent IV USE, as a drug it's a real booby prize as it has a habit of hanging around in the system for about 7 days recommended dose is 80ml to 120 ml and titration can be done in 3 days for maintenance, for Detox, I recommend if the motivation is right, to use SUBUTEX, And don't even use METHADONE, More addicts are stuck on low doses 40ml daily is typical, and encourages the terrible drug agency speak of are you CLEAN or DIRTY??? drug users are not dirty if they use, other preparation used are Dex Amphetamine Sulfate, this has to be prepared at the chemist, as manufacture does not make it. Methadrine like Dia-Morphine was clear and come only in 1 amps for IV called JAX = Jacking up as a term for having a fix, DAVE

What's The Story? (The Duck)
HI PETE That's my piont, by now we should no how many of this & that's about record production in the UK? I am sure that Davs Godin said it was only 100, when he was talking abouy Cubby Checkers "at the Discoteque" CP DEMO, Personally the CP label issues and DEMOs are a must have bunch of 45s/ I need a DEMO of Bunny Siglers "let the good times roll" if you see one or pick one up DAVE

Captain Croasdell Does It Again New Kent 45's
HI ALL....Totaly agree with your point Pete, however in fairness to the 1oo CLUB ALL-NIGTER'S, for 17 years of giving out the Anniversary 45 to the paying public, I was given a copy from Mick, but the Demand and common sense of giving a free copy, to someone who does not go there, (I have asked to be put on the guest list at least 3 X) the real reason I don't go, is my mate Jim Silles, a 100 CLUB regular in the early days, stopped going, also the atmosphere reminds me of BLACKPOOL MECCA, nothing wrong with that, i suppose but it all becomes a we bit clicky, great people, I suppose I never gave it a chance, the last visit there, Mick said it's great here, I said yeh if you don't like rare up tempo soul?? The subject of geting yourself on a record company mail list depends on 2 factors only by promotion of the company's product, are you a DJ who plays to a large crowd or are you a music journalist for a paper (I don't no if Dave Rimmer gets free review stuff? I am sure he must) the last stuff I got was from Lawrence Cane Honyset from TROJAN Sanctuary Records, but nothing these days, DAVE

The Sweets
HI ALL.. BACK IN 72, I SAW THE ORIGINAL, BEING PLAYED BY BILLY MAC IN THE DIVE HITCHIN, HE MUST HAVE GOT IT AT THE TORCH, AND I AM SURE HE NEVER HAD ANY IDEA OF IT'S VALUE, I NEVER TOLD HIM! AND NEITHER DID MICK?? WE JUST WAITED FOR HIM TO SELL IT, HE NEVER DID, THE BOOT HAS THE INST, WHICH IS GREAT, BUT THE ORIG HAS A BRILLIANT B SIDE, DAVE

What's The Story? (The Duck)
HI ALL ....PETE YEH! maybe 25% as at least 2 copies would have been sent, again I seem to recall that RADIO LUXEMBOURG 208, had 5 DEMO'S, & many more of the BEATLES, 1962 LOVE ME DO, 45-R-4949 R&W DEMO,1st SOLD by the ROYAL RULER, SINCE THEN THEE HAS BEEN ABOUT 8, TURNED UP ALL REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN PLAYED FROM THE GRAN DUCHY?? I suppose it all depends on what PYE labels CAMEO PARKWAY, COLPIX, CHESS, AND ALL, Are limited to 150 and CP are by far the fewest, RED BIRD especially the SHANGRI-LAS REMEMBER, are about and easy to find compared to BESSIE BANKS DEMO, I was hoping that, things such as how many DEMO's where made by the different UK labels, would have already done, when I joined SOUL SOURCE?? but it still seams that MICK ROY RANKING JOHNNY BOY, YOURSELF & OTHERS. are the people to ask?? DAVE
-
Prices Please
HI ALL PETE your PS. are you turning into Richard Donuts, where is your profit if you paid your buying price?? Totally agree with you, about being hard to price! even more so since Paul Anka has been in-demand of late, Darrow Fletcher, DEMO has always been hard compared to the stock copy that's at least £60, little Antony £100 mint,, Precisions £50 classic, your £20 may be spot on, but who would sell it at that price?? in fact all the track releases ses are hard to find these days, you try and find the follow up single to Arther Browns 68 classic FIRE, or the WHO Under my Thumb??? anyway he is not selling, which means he must be buying?? DAVE

What's The Story? (The Duck)
Hi All I have to disagree with Pete, even though I think he was guessing, It's about 10% at the best, of PYE co DEMO with die cut centers, I personally have only about 5, I was told that they where die cut just for the Pirate Radio Stations of the time, also the US style Dinker was not used until the end of 66 any record that you may have with the US dinker was done by hand as a 1 of, the Die cut is pretty unique, I may be wrong, but this is the most plausible and logical answer. DAVE
