  1. Their duet "You're The Boss" on Atlantic is very nice and in a "Fever" type of groove. Seems to be popular with the new breed r&b and popcorn crowds.
  2. Does anyone have any suggestions on record stores, bars, clubs, restaurants etc. to visit when in Warsaw? I'll be spending a couple of days there in a few weeks time.
  3. I just dug around a bit and came up with: PALOS 1200 - Fenton Robinson - I Believe / Somebody (Loan Me A Dime) PALOS 1201 - Little Oscar - Empty Bottles / Suicide Blues PALOS 1204 - Billy McGregor - I've Got It / We've Been In Love Much Too Long PALOS 1204 - Lee Shot Williams - I'm In Love / The Millionaire PALOS 1207 - Mighty Joe Young - Easier Said Than Done / ? PALOS 1207 - Lee Shot Williams - Mark My Words / ? PALOS 1208 - Josephine Taylor - Depend On Me / ? PALOS 1208 - Ricky Hodges - Save Me / ? PALOS 2021 - Phil Lowman & The Equitables - My Baby's Missing / We Found Our Baby PALOS 6104 - Phil Lowman - Rock Me Til' I Want No More / Saving My Love For You PALOS 312/10733 - Phil Lowman - Rock Me Til' I Want No More / ? Slightly confusing! The Lee Shot Williams releases have got different label layout compared to the Little Oscar, Fenton Robinson, Phil Lowman and Billy McGregor releases. A different label or just messy numbering system...?
  4. The sleevenotes to the CD doesn't mention anything like that, but you never know. Would surprise me though.
  5. Some additions: LPs: DEVAKI 4401 - Truth - Coming Home DEVAKI 30003 - Dunn & Bruce Street - Official business 12"s: DEVAKI 401 - Truth - Coming Home / International Dancing DEVAKI 426 - Bootsy Reynolds & The Reynolds Brothers - Reynolds Rap / Eenie Meenie DEVAKI 902 (promo) - Dunn & Bruce Street - Shout For Joy / If You Come With Me DEVAKI 902 (issue) - Dunn & Bruce Street - Shout For Joy / Yearnin' & Burnin' There seems to be different flipsides on issue/promo copies of 902.

My opinion is 100% opposite. The version on Age is a superb piece of gritty, rocking r&b in my opinion. It's the Tam-Boo version which is dodgy and it sounds like a joke compared to the Age version. Oh well.

    My thoughts exactly.

  10. I agree with everything written above. Nice to see "Wait A Minute" get a 7" release. An absolute monster of a track!
  11. Sebastian replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
I prefer the 7" of Allan Harris. It has got lower volume, but not much when I compared them by recording them to a WAV file one after the other before I flogged my 12" copy. The 12" is much longer and seeing as "Get Ready" starts to get boring after about 3 minutes the 7" suits me fine! Each to their own etc.
  12. ... and effective guitar lines!
  13. I think you are on about two different 45s. "Come Back Home" and "Coming Home" are different records.
  14. 7 days ago I sold a stunning M- copy of this on UK Rio for £101 on eBay.
  15. Must say that I'm very surprised to see that James Fountain hasn't sold already. £250 is a very decent price. It surely doesn't come up for sale often these days.
  16. Which had a mis-spelled label as well, the only one I've ever seen. It credits the tune as "Gonna Find A True Life".
  17. It was issued on a 45 as AWARE 038. I love their "Why Not Start All Over Again" 45 on WESTBOUND. Punchy uptempo funky dancer with gritty vocals.
  18. The Crown Four, The Chosen Few and The Adventurers (on Blue Rock) were the same group (bar one member or so). The release of "Birth Of A Playboy" as The Crown Four on the LEE JOHN label was the first release of that song, it then appeared on both Maple and Canyon. It's the same recording on all three releases (but with punchier sound quality on Maple and Canyon).
  19. No, I don't have it and I have heard these rumours about it being a spoof and sure, it might be, but I don't think there's any proof in the picture which I posted above that confirms it being a fake. PErhaps it's me who's cynical, but I just thought that this "rumour" was spread by people who wanted to be able to still play it from their LPs and feel "good" about it (you know how it is to play a tune from an LP when a far rarer 7" exists of the same track ). The scan above was posted on either this forum or the RSF forum and the 7" is supposed to belong to Ian Clark. It was photocopied onto a paper and then scanned (that's why there's a line running through the scan, where the paper had been folded). The other Solid Solution 7" on Silver Spoon (#7117, "L.O.V.E."), which DEFINITELY exists, has also got plain text for the label name. "Think About It Girl" is supposed to be #7119 if you look closely in the scan above. That's all I know and I really, really wish that it does exist on a 7" because I want to own one.
  20. It DOES exist on an original Silver Spoon 7" as well.
  21. "Danny Day" was actually Hal Davis. Both sides are written by Jimmy Webb. I only know of it being released on VIP. Both Brenda Holloway and Blinky also recorded "This Time Last Summer" but as far as I know neither of those recordings have ever been released.
  22. INCLUDES: here I am oh my soul disgusted and discouraged got to get to moving nothing can change this love gimme some in the still of the night you need love grown on love that's when a woman needs a man "You Need Love" was not issued on any of their RCA 45s.

    That's the spirit!
  24. Sebastian replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Yes, now it's getting plays by quite a few people, but it's been on CD for 5 years and was released on Money, a quite famous label... just saying that it's suprising sometimes to see what kind of stuff that slips under the radar.
